I drive a rundown car and live on a council estate despite winning £95,000 jackpot, admits The Traitors’ Harry Clark as he confesses ‘I’m still a normal guy’
As an ardent admirer of Harry Clark, I find myself utterly captivated by his extraordinary journey from a humble council estate in Slough to the limelight of The Traitors. His life-changing victory, coupled with his unwavering humility, has left me in awe.
After he successfully deceived his co-players and secured a win on The Traitors in January, his life experienced a significant reversal.
Despite my recent windfall of an astounding £95,000, I find myself feeling as ordinary as ever, much like your friendly neighborhood barista or grocery store cashier – Harry Clark.
Previously serving in the British Army, an engineer found widespread admiration following his impressive performance on a popular BBC program. However, Harry remains grounded, expressing to TopMob: “I’m simply an ordinary individual who happened to appear on a television show; people find it hard to believe.
After the grand unveiling of my Secret Like Santa campaign alongside Deliveroo, I felt compelled to set the record straight. Contrary to any assumptions, that windfall hasn’t catapulted me into a life of opulence or extravagance. Instead, it continues to fuel my passion for connecting with people and spreading joy through simple, heartfelt gestures.
He admitted: “I currently reside in a public housing complex in Slough, and I continue to drive my six-year-old run-down Corsa.
I haven’t felt the need to update my vehicle, as it is serving me just fine. It feels a bit unusual, yet somehow normal as well.
Despite being catapulted into stardom by the show, Harry confessed that he doesn’t experience fame in the traditional sense. He shared how, following his victory, both he and his family returned to their usual jobs, stating: ‘My family and I never anticipated the events of this past year.’
Upon securing the win, the celebrity shared: “I immediately called up my parents after that. You see, I was only 22 at the time, and all I could think of was running down the street, shouting about it everywhere!
I shared the news with my parents and brothers and sisters, which naturally led them to inform my partner as well. So, only a few close relatives were aware, and we all agreed to maintain confidentiality about it.
However, it felt unusual as we all resumed our normal work routines. My return to military service didn’t seem to significantly alter life for me. That transition occurred around August or September, and I remained in the army until early January, when a significant event unfolded on television.
Harry had planned to depart from the Army, irrespective of the show’s results, and he had already arranged a job for himself working in London on the trains.
After securing victory on the show, his life took an entirely unexpected turn. He remarked, “I never anticipated any of this.
Harry shared, “I’m always eager to interact with my fans, and the most rewarding feedback I’ve received is that they can relate to me because I come across as an ordinary person on television, and I remain one in reality.
Expressing his delight at the chances he’s encountered following the show, Harry stated: ‘It’s as if a dream I couldn’t even imagine has become reality.’
I’ve encountered remarkable individuals, some of whom I find incredibly captivating. I’ve found myself in unusual circumstances akin to the NTA, which frankly, baffles me.
Currently, I collaborate with companies such as Deliveroo and organize marketing initiatives. It feels like having the most wonderful job ever.
I often find it’s similar to winning a lottery I wasn’t even aware I was entered in. It’s utterly unbelievable!
During the upcoming holiday season, Harry is teaming up with Deliveroo for an innovative new service called ‘Secret Like Santa’. This unique, covert delivery method aims to alleviate the problem of forgotten gifts among British residents.
Deliveroo’s study reveals that more than half of the British population have arrived at an occasion empty-handed, forgetting a crucial gift. Their new initiative is designed to alleviate the panic of last-minute present hunting.
Speaking about his motivation to join the campaign, Harry expressed that he viewed it as a chance to lend a hand to others.
What I’ve consistently expressed is my desire to aid others, and this year, Deliveroo introduced a concept called Secret Santa, which assists those who overlooked their late Christmas gift purchases.
After placing an order, they can use the Deliveroo app to have their gifts discreetly delivered by a covert group of riders I personally trained for swift and stealthy delivery.
He quipped, “It would be quite amusing if I claimed to have forgotten a gift, but it turns out that my generation, Gen Z, is known for being last-minute planners. This certainly fits since we’re usually so busy and rarely prepared.
‘I haven’t even got my gifts yet like now, so I’m probably going to use the service myself.’
1) You get free service when buying gifts from the in-app store; look up ‘Secret Like Santa’ on Deliveroo in London, Manchester, and Birmingham from December 11 to 13.
