Raye is forced to apologise to fans after mishap with the vinyl for her new album

Raye has apologized to her fans after a problem with the vinyl pressings of her new album, clarifying that the issue wasn’t intentional or a scam.

The singer behind the popular song ‘Where is My Husband!’ recently released her second album, ‘This Music May Contain Hope’. The album’s lead single quickly reached the top of the UK charts, giving her a second Number 1 hit.

Raye, age 28, has described finishing her album as both wonderful and incredibly painful.

She explained that the vinyl version of ‘This Music May Contain Hope’ was made before the songs were completely finished. This means anyone who bought the vinyl received a ‘first edition’ that has some differences compared to the digital release.

Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music, she said: ‘My vinyl is a first edition. I really apologise…

I want to apologize to everyone who bought the album. You will be receiving it, and it’s definitely not a fake! It is a first edition, though. Also, please be aware that the digital versions of a few of the songs are noticeably different from what’s on the album.

‘And you just need to embrace that because I tried my best.’

Raye dedicated years of effort to creating this album, taking on complete creative control as executive producer and songwriter. She wrote every single word and musical note, and collaborated with large orchestras, bands, and numerous musicians, truly pushing herself to the limit.

She confessed: ‘It’s taken every blood cell.

I’ve been completely immersed in this project, working on it whenever I wasn’t performing. I’m truly tired, both mentally and physically, but it’s a satisfying exhaustion. This has been a work of pure passion and dedication.

Raye shared that creating the album felt like a subtle act of defiance, especially after spending years writing songs specifically for other musicians.

She said: ‘There’s a subconscious rebellion in there.

Everything had to be stripped down and basic for a long time – a fast pace, short form, and a specific mood. It made things really difficult for me.

She explained that being told she lacked self-awareness actually made things worse. She questioned how she could figure out who she was when she was constantly put in situations where she had to quickly create work with people she’d never met.

The star said she refused to shrink herself to fit the industry’s expectations.

She firmly stated that she wasn’t defined by a single label. Having been raised among many cultures, she explained that her identity was complex and multifaceted.

Why are you asking me to pick just one thing? With this album, I really went all out with maximalism – I explored any genre that interested me.

This follows Raye’s funny TikTok video where she openly talked about a recent breakup.

Last month, she shared a video online of herself standing with a blue plaque at The Nightingale pub, located on Nightingale Lane in South London.

A blue plaque, commonly found in the UK to honor notable figures and their connection to specific places, marked a location with the inscription: ‘RAYE experienced the most devastating heartbreak of her life here on February 27, 2019.’

The video featured the actress, looking cheerful in a fur coat and with a Chanel bag, holding a beer while she indicated a sign. The sign’s message read: ‘Put a nice plaque up at my ex’s favorite pub so he always remembers it.’

She playfully announced she’s entering a ‘dramatic era’ and shared a clip of her new song as a background to the video.

Raye’s latest single, ‘Nightingale Lane,’ featured on her upcoming album ‘This Music May Contain Hope,’ is a heartfelt tribute to the street where she spent her childhood in Tooting. The song begins with a powerful statement: ‘This is a song about the greatest heartbreak I have ever known.’

Raye’s song captures the heartache of a first breakup, vividly describing the moment she said goodbye. She sings about watching him leave, standing in the rain near Old Park Avenue, recalling how close they were just months before, ‘in June’.

Raye hasn’t named the ‘first love’ and is known for keeping her love life private.

In a recent Vogue interview for its September 2025 issue, she openly discussed the pain of her past breakup, revealing she’s been single for a significant amount of time – two years, to be exact.

She confessed that her last really difficult breakup happened four or five years ago, and she’d previously been certain she would marry him.

We were together for two years, but things didn’t work out. It was the most emotionally devastating experience of my life.

It took me three or four years to move on from that relationship. Because of that, I’m hesitant to fall in love again until I feel completely ready and secure.
