Matthew Rhys’ “creepy and mysterious” new horror series gets first-look teaser trailer

A new trailer has been released for Widow’s Bay, the upcoming horror-comedy series featuring Matthew Rhys. The show, which mixes horror and comedy, and boasts a well-known cast, is expected to be a popular addition to Apple TV when it premieres later this month.

The show features Rhys as Tom Loftis, the mayor of a seemingly perfect New England town. However, beneath the town’s peaceful exterior, there’s a hidden darkness, and Tom is determined to serve his community well.

Okay, so I just saw the trailer for this new horror-comedy series! It’s created by Katie Dippold and directed by Hiro Murai, and it looks seriously good. Apple TV is dropping the first three episodes on April 29th, and the trailer definitely got me hooked – it’s super intriguing!

In the video, the mayor discusses the town’s complicated past with a guest, dismissing local superstitions as just stories. While the scene includes scary moments, it leaves you wondering what the town is really hiding.

After the teaser was released, fans flooded social media with enthusiastic reactions. One user on X wrote, “I’m hooked! It looks strange and intriguing, especially with Matthew Rhys involved, and I can’t wait to watch it!”

The new series is set in Widow’s Bay, a charming but isolated town located 40 miles off the New England coast. While seemingly idyllic, the town harbors a dark secret. The mayor, Tom Loftis, is determined to save his economically troubled community, but faces unseen challenges (according to Apple).

He’s stuck on an island with no internet and unreliable cell service, and the locals are suspicious and believe the place is haunted. He desperately wants their respect, but they see him as weak and afraid—and unfortunately, they’re right.

Loftis is committed to creating a brighter future for his son and transforming the island into a place people want to visit. Remarkably, he achieves this – tourists begin to arrive. However, the island’s residents were proven right about something.

For years, everything was peaceful, but now the unbelievable events from old legends are starting to come true. The synopsis describes Widow’s Bay as a mix of real horror and humor focused on its characters.

I’m so excited about the cast for this series! Along with the already amazing Rhys, we’ve got Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Carroll, and Dale Dickey joining him. It’s a seriously talented group! And it’s cool to hear that Rhys is also an executive producer, working alongside Samantha Dippold and Hiro Murai.

Widow’s Bay premieres on Apple TV on 29 April.

Okay, so the latest issue of Living Legends magazine just dropped, and it’s ALL about Harry Styles! It’s a huge 100-page, full-color special, and I grabbed my copy. You can find it at most newsstands or order it online if you’re looking to get your hands on it.
