As a longtime fan of My Chemical Romance and an avid follower of their journey since their debut, the news of Bob Bryar’s passing has left me deeply saddened. I remember listening to “The Black Parade” on repeat back in 2006, and his drumming was a significant part of what made that album so iconic for me. It’s always heartbreaking when we lose someone who has contributed to the world of music in such a profound way.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but reflect on the poignant statement issued by My Chemical Romance concerning the passing of their ex-drummer, Bob Bryar – a man whose rhythm echoed within their emo soundscape from 2004 to 2010.
With deep sadness, we bid farewell to Bob Bryar, a cherished ex-bandmate who significantly contributed to the legacy of My Chemical Romance, as expressed on Instagram this Monday.
“We send our deepest condolences to his friends and family at this time. May he rest in peace.”

It was confirmed by representatives of the influential emo band My Chemical Romance that Bob Bryar, who previously played the drums for them, has sadly passed away.
Last weekend, it was reported that Bryar was discovered deceased at his residence in Tennessee. This information has been verified, and a representative stated, “We kindly request your patience and empathy as we grapple with the sad news of Bob’s demise.
As a devoted admirer, I must share that the cause of Bryar’s passing remains undisclosed, but TMZ claims, based on police reports, that there’s no indication of any suspicious activity. Interestingly, his belongings – musical gear and weaponry – were left untouched, hinting at an uneventful scenario. However, a thorough examination by the medical examiner is yet to be completed.
Since 2004, MCR’s long-term drummer Bryar has been the one behind the drums, replacing the band’s first drummer Matt Pelissier. He was part of the team that created the critically acclaimed album “The Black Parade” in 2006. This masterpiece earned a Grammy nomination and eventually found its place among Rolling Stone’s top 500 albums of all time.
In 2016, Bryar expressed his admiration for “The Black Parade” by saying, “It’s hard for me to come off as anything but enthusiastic, but I truly believe that every aspect of this record, from the music to the artwork, is simply unrivaled.” He added, “I sincerely hope these songs will endure for a long time.

Next summer, My Chemical Romance plans to play their iconic 2006 album “The Black Parade” from start to finish at 10 stops on a stadium tour.
In 2010, when Bryar left My Chemical Romance, they announced the separation in a now-deleted blog post, stating that it was a difficult decision for everyone involved, one that wasn’t made lightly.
As for our friend pursuing new adventures, I hope he thrives every step of the way, and I encourage each one of you to extend the same wishes.
Not long after that, it appears Bryar made up his mind to leave the music business and shift towards real estate instead. Public records indicate he is licensed to work in real estate within the state of Tennessee.
2013 marked the disbandment of MCR, but they reunited in 2019 and embarked on an extended reunion tour. However, this tour was delayed multiple times due to the pandemic. Earlier this year, it was announced that the band would be touring North America in 2025, commemorating their “The Black Parade” album. The tour schedule includes a stop at Dodger Stadium on July 26, 2025.
