Emily Blunt addresses return for The Devil Wears Prada 2

As a gamer with a heart for movies, especially those that strike a perfect balance between humor and drama, I must say that the prospect of a Devil Wears Prada sequel has me absolutely thrilled! The original film was a delightful blend of wit, fashion, and a dash of office politics – an irresistible cocktail that left audiences craving for more.

Emily Blunt has responded to reports of a Devil Wears Prada sequel.

The actor portraying Oppenheimer, known for his role as Emily Charlton in the initial 2006 movie, expressed his readiness to reprise the character should a sequel be announced.

During a discussion at the Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, she mentioned that there are signs of potential developments, but she is unsure if anything definite can be confirmed. However, she expressed her happiness about the possibility of collaborating again.

It emerged in July that the original screenwriter, Aline Brosh McKenna, had been contacted about penning a sequel’s script for Disney. Discussions were underway for the original director, David Frankel, and producer, Wendy Finerman, to rejoin the project.

In a conversation about the initial film’s achievement – with Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Stanley Tucci as its stars – Blunt shared that she was taken aback by the movie’s reception when it first came out and how it continues to captivate audiences today.

She explained, “Back then, I had no idea about anything.” She recalled her agent phoning her during the movie’s premiere week and telling her it had earned a certain amount. Her response was, “Is that something to be proud of?

Reflecting back on those memorable days, I chuckled tearfully almost every moment during filming. Little did we suspect that our attempts at creating humor would spark such a wildfire of laughter! Now, I’m frequently reminded of it when people quote it weekly.

The initial movie is inspired by the hugely successful 2003 novel sharing the same title, penned by Lauren Weisberger. This book has often been suggested to be partially autobiographical, with some believing it was influenced by the author’s time working at a well-known fashion magazine.

The film follows Andie Sachs (Hathaway), a budding journalist who accepts a job at prestigious fashion magazine Runway, working as the assistant for demanding editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly (Streep).

Blunt plays Emily, Miranda’s highly-strung first assistant who helps train Andie for the job.

According to The Fall Guy star, the role “paved the way” for her being seen as a character actor.

She mentioned that many Britons had been obliged to don garments like garnets or crowns in multiple period pieces before the movie “Devil Wear Prada.
