Flavor Flav says his botched backstage meet-up with Backstreet Boys was ‘poorly handled’

As a seasoned cinephile with decades of movie-going experiences under my belt, I must say that the saga of Flavor Flav and NBC is reminiscent of a Hollywood blockbuster gone awry. The twists and turns, the highs and lows, the unexpected cameos – it’s like watching an epic drama unfold on the silver screen.

Flavor Flav provides deeper understanding about his altercation with security during the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting event.

On Wednesday, the creator of the popular song “Shake Your Booty” shared a now-deleted post on X, detailing an incident involving security at the annual event. According to his story, he was escorted backstage to meet the Backstreet Boys (one of the evening’s performers) in their dressing room. However, shortly after arriving, he claims he was unexpectedly told by NBC that they didn’t want him in that area and he needed to leave.

According to Flavor Flav, he believes he did an excellent job singing the national anthem during the recent Milwaukee Bucks game. He also emphasizes that stopping to try is a guaranteed way to fail.

On Thursday, neither NBC’s nor the Backstreet Boys’ representatives provided an immediate response when asked by The Times for a comment.

Simultaneously as he was getting removed from his position, Flavor Flav mentioned that a woman from NBC approached him to create social media content.

He wondered aloud, ‘What have I possibly done to NBC or anyone?’ All I’ve ever strived to do is bring happiness and love… And I believe I did just that for NBC during the Olympics,” (Flavor Flav sponsored the U.S. women’s water polo team at this summer’s Olympic Games, also serving as the sport’s cheerleader).

Olympics

In simpler terms, Flavor Flav proposes gifting Jordan Chiles a bronze-colored clock pendant following the decision by the International Olympic Committee that required her to relinquish her medal.

The post was live for less than an hour and was followed by a second in which Flavor Flav said his “spirit was broken.”

He had shared and subsequently removed a post from X yesterday, as he felt ashamed about the rough behavior and choice of words displayed by the security personnel.

Originally, a key figure in the influential hip-hop band Public Enemy described the situation as being mishandled. He appreciated the backing he received from fans following his initial statement. Additionally, he felt remorse that the commotion surrounding the alleged incident detracted from the outstanding performances and everyone’s diligent efforts.

As a die-hard fan of hip-hop, I can tell you from personal experience that Flavor Flav himself prefers not to delve too deeply into the recent incident, choosing instead to keep quiet and steer clear of any unwanted media attention or negativity.

Music

In a conversation prior to their joint performance, Drake expressed his admiration for “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys, referring to it as one of the most outstanding tracks in the history of music.

Wrapping up his Thursday post, Flavor Flav shared that he stood by the side during the Backstreet Boys’ performance as it began to snow. He even included a video of their show, praising Howie Dorough as one of the kindest individuals in the music world and describing the rest of the band members as genuinely good people.

As a movie-loving enthusiast, I got the chance to witness an impressive lineup at Wednesday’s event. Performances were delivered by artists like Dan + Shay, Jennifer Hudson, and even Grammy’s best new artist nominee, Coco Jones, alongside other talented individuals. For the second year in a row, Kelly Clarkson graced us with her hosting skills.
