5 most frustrating shows of 2024

As a viewer who’s seen my fair share of TV shows, I can confidently say that 2024 was a mixed bag for entertainment. There were some real gems out there, but unfortunately, there were also a few shows that left me feeling more frustrated than satisfied. Let’s dive into the five most frustrating shows of the year.

2024 saw an abundance of television content, offering a wide range of options. However, just as there are numerous quality productions, there are also some disappointments each year. It’s not unusual to encounter series that meet expectations in certain aspects but fail to resonate due to elements that don’t align with your viewing preferences. Sometimes, even the final episodes can be unsatisfying. As the year draws to a close, we’re reflecting on the year’s offerings. Here’s our list of the top 5 shows from 2024 that left us feeling frustrated.

Dark Matter on Apple TV+

It’s unfortunate that “Dark Matter” on Apple TV+ ended up on our list, given its promising beginning. The show had an innovative concept and pushed the boundaries of alternate realities and sci-fi conventions to new heights. However, the latter episodes left me feeling disengaged due to their confusing plotlines involving multiple Jasons and inconsistent world rules. Adding to this, the series’ decision to keep Jason2 alive instead of Jason1 killing him, which contradicts the book, was a significant letdown. Consequently, we don’t believe a second season of “Dark Matter” would be worthwhile, but regrettably, the streamer has already renewed it.

Pretty Little Liars: Summer School on Max

I found the second season of “Pretty Little Liars: Summer School,” or Max, falling short of my expectations. While there were some compelling moments and an impressive nod to popular horror films, the final twist involving Mrs. Langsberry (Chip’s mom) as “A” and Wes didn’t sit well with me. The characters’ decisions this season seemed unnecessary at times, making for a rather frustrating viewing experience overall. Unfortunately, the series has been cancelled, which I believe is a fitting conclusion.

Tell Me Lies season 2 on Hulu

When it comes to expressing feelings of exasperation and frustration, few characters embody that more than Mr. Stephen DeMarco. To be frank, even Lucy made some confounding decisions during season 2 of “Tell Me Lies” on Hulu, which had me shouting in disbelief! Essentially, the toxicity of these characters leaves you feeling frustrated by their choices. Incredibly, despite this, it’s an engaging drama that I find myself drawn to – albeit with a sense of frustration at how the characters continually hurt themselves.

Tulsa King season 2 on Paramount+

Many of us were eagerly anticipating the return of Tulsa King on Paramount+ with season 2. While the initial season was captivating and hooked many viewers, the subsequent installment seemed to have too much happening, leaving the storyline feeling chaotic and confusing. It was difficult to keep up with the various plotlines that appeared scattered throughout. As a viewer, it’s never ideal to encounter such a situation because it results in an unenjoyable viewing experience. Regrettably, season 2 felt just like that. At present, neither renewal nor cancellation of the show has been announced, but there’s a strong possibility that it will return for another round.

Outer Banks season 4 on Netflix

It’s common knowledge among those who know me that “Outer Banks” is one of my favorite TV shows! However, the fourth season on Netflix left me feeling a bit disappointed. I didn’t find the story as engaging as previous seasons. To me, the whole saga about JJ’s parentage seemed unnecessary. Yet, I did appreciate that the focus was on him this time around. Despite this, I found myself following along, only to be surprised by a major plot twist. Sadly, JJ perishes at the end of “Outer Banks” season 4! This development was incredibly frustrating for fans, especially after all the turmoil he’s experienced. In the end, JJ was the most dedicated and loyal Pogue out of all. However, I believe he deserved a more fitting conclusion, and I’m still upset about how things unfolded. The series will return for its fifth and final season.
