Joseph Duggar is brutally mocked by family member over complaints about jailhouse conditions

Joseph Duggar faced criticism from a family member after he shared his struggles with sleep while in jail.

A recent jailhouse phone call obtained by Us Weekly revealed 31-year-old Joseph complaining to his wife, 27-year-old Kendra Duggar, about not being able to sleep in jail.

Amy Duggar, who is Joseph’s cousin, seemed very happy in a TikTok video she posted on Thursday, reacting to the recently leaked audio.

In her video, Amy shared that Joe mentioned he’s been struggling to sleep, then added frankly, ‘Nobody cares.’

‘I bet the victim hasn’t slept in five years,’ Amy said in a more serious tone.

The Daily Mail has contacted a spokesperson for Joseph Duggar but has not received a response yet.

Joseph was released from jail this week after posting a $600,000 bond. He was arrested on March 25th in Tonitown, Arkansas, following an accusation by a 14-year-old girl who alleges he inappropriately touched her when she was nine years old.

According to the Daily Mail, Duggar has pleaded not guilty to all charges. His attorney filed the plea and a request for a jury trial, so he didn’t need to appear in court for an initial hearing.

According to a recording of a phone call, the 19 Kids and Counting star described his time in jail at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Arkansas as ‘miserable,’ saying the noise made it impossible to sleep.

Joseph explained that he didn’t sleep well for the past two nights because of loud noises. He said this made yesterday particularly difficult.

Joseph called his wife again to complain about not being able to sleep. He explained that another inmate had a long, hours-long outburst during the night, keeping him awake.

I barely slept last night because someone was throwing tantrums all day yesterday,” he shared in a recording obtained by Us Weekly. “I was just waiting for him to fall asleep.

Joseph explained that after the inmate completed all the necessary paperwork and procedures, he was able to sleep briefly, though he wasn’t sure exactly how long he slept.

He explained that another inmate was being very disruptive and using a lot of profanity, requiring staff to constantly try and calm him down.

Joseph told Kendra he tried to read the Bible to distract himself from the other inmates’ cursing and yelling.

After hearing about his issues, Joseph’s cousin Amy asked her 211,000 followers to prioritize the well-being of the person he had a problem with.

She spoke with a heavier tone, looking directly at the camera, and explained that trauma is relentless. It doesn’t stop when you try to rest; it stays with you constantly, invading your thoughts, dreams, and every moment of your life.

She explained that a simple apology isn’t enough, because being in jail doesn’t erase the hurt that was caused, Joe.

Amy strongly disagreed with her cousin Joseph, publicly criticizing him after he said he was reading the Bible while in jail.

In a recent Instagram video, she explained that simply reading the Bible doesn’t excuse harmful behavior. ‘It’s not enough to just highlight verses,’ she said. ‘Your actions matter more than how much scripture you read, and faith shouldn’t be used to hide wrongdoing. God isn’t looking for religious displays, but genuine change.’

Amy believes God values personal growth and honesty. She explained that God is particularly moved when someone bravely changes and heals others simply by speaking the truth.

She stated firmly that true repentance involves a changed life, explaining that you can tell if someone is genuinely reformed by observing the results of that change. She then asked for affirmation, saying, ‘Can I get an amen?’

In another leaked phone call, Joseph told Kendra that the jail was hectic during the day, but he also worried about how difficult it would be to be locked up there.

He said that noise from the inmates surrounding his cell had set him on edge.

He said the noise from next door was so disruptive that he could barely concentrate, describing it as feeling ‘like getting hit by a jackhammer’.

In a recording obtained by TMZ, Joseph’s wife, Kendra, reassured him that his family still cared for him, despite any disappointment they might feel.

‘That’s how things are,’ she added.

‘Oh, I understand. I understand the disappointment,’ Joseph responded.

‘Just understand that they love you, too,’ Kendra continued.

‘Oh, yeah, absolutely, I feel that,’ Joseph replied. ‘I’m not upset or anything like that.’

According to a phone conversation on March 22 obtained by People magazine, Kendra told her husband, Joseph, that their four children were no longer at home. This followed her arrest on March 20 after police and the Arkansas Department of Human Services searched their house.

She was later charged with four counts each of putting a child in danger and unlawful imprisonment, and Joseph is now facing the same charges.

Okay, so they took her in, too, right after they got him! But everyone’s saying it has nothing to do with all those awful accusations against Joseph. It’s like, a completely separate thing, which… honestly, I’m trying to focus on! It just feels like they’re trying to connect everything, but it’s not the same, it can’t be!

Kendra told Joseph on the phone that the children were doing well.

I was so relieved to hear that Josh Duggar has been released on a $600,000 bond! His lawyer, Albert Sauline, told the Daily Mail he finally got some relief from the stress of being in jail after his court appearance. It’s a small step, but I’m hoping this means he’ll have a chance to prepare for what comes next.

Duggar had already pleaded not guilty in writing, and he’s now asking for his case to be decided by a jury.

The reality TV personality returned to Arkansas and is scheduled to appear in court again on April 20th.

Judge Clark ordered Duggar to not be alone with anyone under the age of 18 as a condition of his release, court records show.

Look, I’ve been following this case closely, and honestly, Sauline just gets it. She told the Daily Mail that their biggest priority is making sure Mr. Duggar gets a fair shake, and that’s so important, even though he was on TV and everyone knows him. It’s just about doing what’s right, you know? It’s reassuring to hear someone say that, seriously.

We’re fortunate to have skilled prosecutors and judges here in Florida. I’m confident he’ll receive a fair trial.
