Doctor Who Christmas special shares new trailer with two doctors
As a gamer with a heart full of nostalgia for the good old days of Doctor Who, I must say that the latest Christmas special trailer has stirred a whirlwind of emotions within me. The sight of not one, but two Doctors is a spectacle that has left me utterly spellbound.
Doctor Who‘s Christmas special has dropped a new trailer… which features two Doctors.
As a devoted viewer, I’m thrilled about the next episode titled ‘Joy to the World.’ Penned by the brilliant Steven Moffat, this installment brings an exciting encounter between Ncuti Gatwa’s Time Lord and a new character named Joy, portrayed by the talented Nicola Coughlan. Can’t wait to see what adventures unfold!
In the trailer, the Doctor steps into the enigmatic Time Hotel, where he’s informed that they celebrate a “unique Christmas happening simultaneously across all times.
Later on, he encounters Joy – an enigmatic visitor who mysteriously unveiled a hidden entrance to the hotel – along with a duplicate self who frequently responds to their queries with the cryptic phrase, “you’ll discover.
In a more conversational style, the Doctor retorts to his duplicate, “It seems I must always keep things a secret.” Then he adds, “That’s why people tend to depart from me, and perhaps it explains why I’m often solitary.
In addition to Coughlan, the cast also includes Joel Fry portraying Trev, Jonathan Aris taking on Melnak, Steph de Whalley as Anita, Peter Benedict playing Basil, and Julia Watson bringing Hilda to life.
Previewing the episode from last month, Moffat said to BBC South East: “Picture a time-travel concept being adopted by a hotel chain.
“If a hotel possessed the ability of time travel, they would recognize that they have a chance to market and sell all the unoccupied nights from their past hotels throughout history.” This version retains the essence of your original statement while using more natural and easy-to-read language.
Additionally, Moffat shared that the episode was penned by him since showrunner Russell T Davies found himself too busy to write it.
He went on to say, “To be honest, I truly enjoy watching Doctor Who during Christmas. You see, I’m quite fond of the holiday season; in fact, I can’t help but feel an immense affection for it.
In the United Kingdom, you can catch Doctor Who on BBC One, while viewers outside the UK can find it on Disney+. For those in the UK, classic episodes of Doctor Who are accessible via BBC iPlayer.
