eFootball 2025 v4.2.0 update brings Captain Tsubasa collaboration, new features, players, and more
As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say that KONAMI’s eFootball 2025 v4.2.0 update has truly outdone itself! The collaboration with Captain Tsubasa is a masterstroke, transporting us back to our childhood days when we used to devour those manga series.
As a diehard fan, I’m thrilled to share that KONAMI has dropped an amazing update for eFootball 2025 with version 4.2.0! While it may not revolutionize gameplay, this release packs a punch with exciting new features and limited-time events tied to a massive collaboration with the iconic series Captain Tsubasa. This update is all about enhancing our gaming experience – let me fill you in on all the juicy details!
eFootball 2025 v4.2.0 update new features explained
eFootball x Captain Tsubasa Campaign Vol. 1
From December 5th to December 26th, 2024, a thrilling partnership between eFootball and Captain Tsubasa launches a unique in-game event. This event showcases special content tied to the iconic football manga series. The first volume of this extended campaign is only the beginning!
At this gathering, you’ll find commemorative cards for famous soccer players like Lionel Messi, Takefusa Kubo, and Luis Suarez, in addition to offering complimentary cards for Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, and Dayot Upamecano. Notably, Messi and Kubo receive exclusive artwork from the creator of Captain Tsubasa, Yoichi Takahashi, serving as a focal point of the campaign, bridging the gap between actual football and anime worlds.
Beyond the deck of cards, this event presents an array of themed prizes that excite me as a gamer. For instance, I’d be thrilled to get my hands on Nankatsu MS and Toho Academy MS jerseys. Plus, I’m looking forward to creating character avatars that resonate with the series. There are also exclusive badges featuring iconic figures like Tsubasa Ozora and Genzo Wakabayashi, which adds a layer of personalization. Lastly, it’s exciting to know that there will be three collectable artworks up for grabs – a fresh addition to the mix!
Now, you have the opportunity to accumulate Pieces by engaging in events or activities. Once gathered, these pieces can be utilized for the creation of Masterpieces. Finishing a Masterpiece rewards you with prizes, and your finished works will be showcased in the Gallery, which is conveniently located on the Mission screen. Additionally, you can acquire in-game items like training points, GP, and eFootball Coins as you progress.
GP Shop
In the v4.2.0 update, a fresh marketplace has been included that allows you to trade your accumulated GP for a variety of items, such as Skill Training Programs, Position Trainers, and Random Booster Tokens. This new feature is particularly beneficial for those who have amassed GP but have found limited uses for it beyond Legacy Transfers.
Stadiums added on Mobile
At long last, mobile gamers, your desires are met! No more monotonous eFootball matches in the same old stadium for you! Now, the mobile edition boasts an upgrade with five brand-new stadiums. Here’s a peek at the full lineup:
- Old Trafford (Manchester United)
- Emirates Stadium (Arsenal FC)
- Allianz Arena (FC Bayern Munchen)
- San Siro (Internazionale Milano)
- Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (AC Milan)
You’ll find an extra screen at the beginning of a match, accessible through the “General Settings” menu. Here, you can effortlessly customize aspects such as the stadium, team uniform, ball, and even the weather for a more immersive experience.
Germany feat. Captain Tsubasa
Among the top pack designs, one featuring Captain Tsubasa-themed Epic cards has been introduced. These cards boast stunning visuals that allow ample time for coin accumulation before a draw. The player cards themselves are visually impressive, offering characters like Rummenigge with Phenomenal Finishing, Matthaus with Fortress skill, and Oliver Kahn.

A multitude of fresh characters are now part of the game, making it quite intriguing. The latest edition of Chelsea, managed by Frank Lampard, brings expertise in swift counterattacks and wide play tactics, enhancing the overall balance. Updates for new celebrations have been introduced for Gyokeres, Lamine Yamal, among others.
Additional updates
Additionally, enhancements have been made to how aptness values are determined within In-Match Roles under the Game Strategy. Now, factors such as booster effects, player’s position competency, and the coach’s playstyle competence are all considered in these calculations.
During the entire event duration, some exceptional player lists provided by KONAMI will stay accessible. You’ll receive warnings before your eFootball Points are set to expire, particularly if there’s less than a week left. Additionally, objectives within the game have been updated to improve your gaming experience.
