Instagram official? Dr Matt Agnew has a ‘date night’ with celebrity chef Khanh Ong after denying romance rumours

As a lifestyle expert with years of experience observing and analyzing interpersonal relationships, I must say that the bond between Dr. Matt Agnew and Khanh Ong is a unique one. It’s refreshing to see two individuals who are comfortable enough in their sexuality to express affection without it being misconstrued as something romantic.

On Wednesday evening, I couldn’t help but feel the thrill of being an ardent admirer as Dr. Matt Agnew and his cherished companion, Khanh Ong, seemingly fanned the flames of romance speculation. They embarked on what they themselves described as a ‘date night’.

As a devoted admirer keeping tabs on the public sphere, I’ve noticed the recurring rumors surrounding the 36-year-old Bachelor alum and the 30-year-old MasterChef Australia sensation. Yet, both individuals have consistently refuted claims that they are romantically involved.

They appeared to jest about the romance speculations this past week as they enjoyed a “double date” together, posting pictures from their outing on Instagram.

Khanh captured a detailed self-portrait, showcasing their beaming grins during a delightful night out at a fancy Prada gala.

On the special event, celebrity cook Khahn opted for a luxurious Prada T-shirt, while Matt exuded elegance wearing a navy shirt paired with a sleek black jacket.

Khahn titled the photo, “Evening out,” possibly hinting at the frequent speculation about them due to their close camaraderie being mistaken for a romantic relationship.

Matt and his close companion Khanh have been lately seen socializing in Melbourne during the month of September, specifically attending the world premiere of “Oscar” by the Australian Ballet.

On the crimson carpet, the companions stood side by side, grinning broadly for pictures, further emphasizing their strong bond of friendship.

They too spent a vacation in Noosa during October, snuggling while exploring the coastal town in Queensland.

On a delightful beach day, the group was accompanied by Mark Wales, known for his work with SAS, and his spouse Samantha Gash. They all enjoyed an enjoyable afternoon together.

Matt and Khanh have become very close friends over the past few years, often spending quality time together on “date nights” and enjoying affectionate hugs.

Last year, during an interview on the Feast podcast, they stated that they don’t consider their relationship to be sexual, addressing the speculations that had arisen.

In my enthusiastic perspective, I often ponder why some straight men seem to lack warm camaraderie towards each other, leading others to presume there’s a romantic or sexual connection between them.

It’s important for everyone to feel confident and at ease with expressing their romantic feelings, regardless of their gender. They shouldn’t have any hesitation when it comes to showing affection openly.

‘There’s that random line in the sand—nah blokes can’t show affection—which is stupid.’

Matt mentioned that the two of them often find comfort in a non-romantic embrace since they’re both unattached and seeking friendship.

People are highly social beings; they derive a sense of well-being from acts like hugging and holding each other, which trigger the release of dopamine in the brain. This is according to him.

‘For everyone, women and men, cuddling is important. That physical comfort and being able to feel safe. It’s something inherently human.’

Matt mentioned they would speak again, suggesting a cozy movie evening together, which he noted could help improve one’s mood.

Khanh, who openly identifies as gay, shared that they’ve been close friends for quite some time, offering one another friendship and camaraderie.

In simpler terms, he found the rumors amusing since Matt is a straight man, and he himself is openly gay. Despite these differences, they share friendship and often spend time together, as he shared with Daily Mail Australia some time ago.

In my view, we offer each other a sense of camaraderie or fellowship, which seems to fill a void in us both.

In our get-togethers, we discuss our professional journeys and future aspirations, providing an environment free from criticism. I believe this open, non-judgmental dynamic fosters a very beneficial relationship.

‘What strikes me as amusing is the thought that I might be engaging in this activity with a romantic partner, which would surprise many people given my relationship status.’

Matt made an appearance in the 2019 season of the Channel 10 dating program The Bachelor, where he ended up leaving with Chelsie McLeod towards the sunset.

After three months, the romance didn’t last, and it turned out that he was dating comedian Gen Fricker. Later on, he admitted he was single again.
