As a dedicated follower of Glenn Close’s illustrious career and a mental health advocate myself, I find their family’s story deeply moving and inspiring. The release of Silence You by Jessie Close and Calen T. Pick is a testament to their courage, resilience, and the power of love in the face of adversity.

The book titled “Silence You,” co-written by Glenn Close’s younger sibling, Jessie Close, and her nephew, Calen T. Pick, delves into their personal battles with mental illness and was released for purchase on Tuesday.

In her endorsement, the 77-year-old acting legend expressed that reading Jesse and Calen’s book left her feeling tense and emotional at times, causing her eyes to well up with tears.

This book provides a compelling, sorrowful, yet ultimately inspiring, chronicle of the devastating impact mental illness can have on a family. However, it also showcases how that same family, through their unwavering love and determination, not only endures but overcomes. I hold this book in high esteem, with deep admiration and wonder for its two remarkable authors.

Glenn, who used to be known as Glenda, shared with People on Wednesday: “It felt incredibly accurate to me. It revealed another aspect of the struggles they all faced.

In the year 2010, a threesome established the nonprofit group “Bring Change to Mind,” with a mission to eliminate the prejudice and bias associated with mental health issues.

Noticeably, it required great bravery for Jessie and Calen to openly share about their respective struggles with bipolar disorder and schizoaffective disorder.

Choose a character whose symptoms appeared when they were fifteen years old, and titled their creative work based on the year they painted ‘Silence You’ with vivid red paint in the family garage, which was 1998.

According to the 71-year-old speaker-author, he would often sit on the couch, gently swaying back and forth, with his eyes widening significantly.

He would peer out through the windows, commenting, “Someone is watching me,” yet there was nobody present.

Jessie commented, “Calen was a charmer. He was attractive, intelligent, and hilarious. He had numerous friends – but everything seemingly took a turn for the worse.

The 43-year-old artist without formal training expressed, “I spent a great deal of time contemplating extraordinary concepts and doubting the truth. It was quite ambitious. I admit to having a touch of divinity within me. I believe I was reaching for something greater than myself.

At the age of 18, Calen was admitted into a psychiatric facility in Helena, Montana, following a severe psychological breakdown. For the subsequent two years, he resided in a transitional home situated on the hospital premises.

‘A lot of sedation and trial and error,’ Pick said of finding the right antipsychotic medication.

‘It was two steps forward and one step back.’

Calen, who is currently wedded to a professional equine therapy riding instructor, aims for their 340-page book to offer clarity on a rather chaotic journey and provide assistance to others.

In the upcoming spy comedy “Back in Action,” set to debut on Netflix on January 17, actress Close will take on the role of a character wielding guns, named Ginny. This movie also stars Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, Kyle Chandler, and Andrew Scott.

The eight-time Oscar nominee has been hard at work on the LA set of Ryan Murphy’s eight-episode legal drama All’s Fair, which premieres next year on Hulu.

In addition to the forthcoming performance, we’ll see renowned actors such as Sarah Paulson, Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash, and Ed O’Neill, along with Teyana Taylor, Kim Kardashian, and Matthew Noszka gracing the stage.

Glenn’s forthcoming films encompass a movie version of the Broadway play Sunset Boulevard, Charlie McDowell’s drama titled The Summer Book, Rian Johnson’s sequel to Knives Out named Wake Up Dead Man, and Simon Curtis’ comedic film featuring acting, Encore.
