As a devoted fan who’s been through the emotional rollercoaster of divorce and reconciliation with my own ex, I can’t help but feel a deep connection to the characters in The Split. The fact that they’re jetting off to Barcelona for a destination wedding only adds to the intrigue! I’ve always dreamt of a romantic getaway like that, minus the drama, of course.
The BBC has confirmed a release date for the new Barcelona-set The Split series.
In this two-part event, we find ourselves in a beautiful Spanish city, where Hannah Stern (portrayed by Nicola Walker), along with the Defoe family, jet off to attend a destination wedding.
As a thrilled fan, I’m excited to share that I’ve just learned that “The Split: Barcelona” will grace our screens on BBC One, starting from the 29th and 30th of December at 9pm each evening. And here’s the cherry on top – both episodes will be available on iPlayer from the 29th as well!

Two years after Hannah and her former husband Nathan Stern (Stephen Mangan) split, we see her exploring the possibility of new love, all while others around her are experiencing reunions, separations, and conflicts.
Apart from Walker and Mangan, additional returning cast members include Annabel Scholey as Nina, Fiona Button as Rose, Deborah Findlay as Ruth, Ian McElhinney as Ronnie, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith as Glen, Elizabeth Roberts as Liv, and Alex Guersman as Gael.
Actor Toby Stephens, known for his roles in James Bond films and Percy Jackson and the Olympians, has been added to the cast as the sophisticated lawyer character Archie Moore.

In a realm where harsh separations and captivating reunions prevail, the Defoe family is summoned to a destination wedding of their own, offering everything viewers have come to cherish in the series ‘The Divorce.’ (Creator Abi Morgan’s words)
“A tumultuous prenuptial agreement, scandalous gatecrashers at weddings, and impulsive marriage proposals in mid-air – this is a romantic comedy turned on its head, offering a chaotic and uproarious weekend filled with emotional drama that will leave hearts pounding, even after the last guest has departed.
It’s been mentioned that the spin-off titled “The Split Up” was put on hold in September due to editorial issues.
The Split: Barcelona is set to premiere on BBC One on December 29 and 30 at 9pm, and iPlayer on December 29.
