In the second season of “The Rig,” which features Martin Compston from “Line of Duty,” it’s officially set to air on January 2, 2025.
The announcement came accompanied by a sneak peek trailer for the first time, as well as official pictures from season two, offering tantalizing glimpses of what’s to come in the forthcoming episodes.

Today, December 4th, it turned out that the cast of “The Rig” gathered together for a unique screening at The Everyman in Edinburgh.
Compston was accompanied by his fellow actors, Iain Glen (of ‘Game of Thrones’), Rochenda Sandall (‘Line of Duty’), Mark Addy (‘Game of Thrones’) and Emily Hampshire (‘Schitt’s Creek’).

Besides Stuart McQuarrie known from ITV’s “Des”, Owen Teale famous for “Game of Thrones”, and Molly Vevers who appeared in “The Spanish Princess”, the cast will also include Phil McKee, previously seen on Channel 4’s “Deadwater Fell”, and Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, a star from Netflix’s “The Queen’s Gambit”, for season two.
At the screening, Martin Compston expressed his opinion that “the latest series is more impressive than ever,” and went on to share his eagerness for everyone to “watch it and see for themselves.
In the upcoming season, we find our characters once again as they navigate the highlands of Scotland aboard the Kinloch Bravo. The story resumes following the enigmatic happenings in the first season, leaving us with a surviving crew. Their struggle revolves around coping with the emotional and bodily repercussions stemming from their ordeal on that fog-shrouded North Sea platform. They’ll also be grappling with intricate conspiracies, internal corporate strife, and fresh perils lurking beneath the ominous depths of the global ocean.

The Amazon Prime Video series was developed and penned by David Macpherson, a native of Scotland who often references his youth as the source of his inspiration.
Previously, he shared with The Sunday Post that they have always loomed large in his life, and his father used to work offshore. He shared many intriguing tales about this world, sparking his curiosity. Consequently, he had a strong desire to depict this captivating realm on the screen.
John Strickland, known for his work on “Line of Duty” and “Bodyguard”, collaborates with Alex Holmes, who has worked on “The Letter for the King”.
The Rig season 2 will launch on Prime Video on January 2, 2025.
