As a gamer who grew up watching some of the most iconic heist movies, the news of Scott L. Schwartz’s passing has left me feeling quite somber. The man who brought Bruiser to life in the Ocean’s trilogy was not just an actor but a jolly soul full of life, according to those who knew him personally.
65-year-old actor Scott L. Schwartz, known for his role in the movie “Oceans 11,” has passed away due to congestive heart failure on November 26 at his home in Covington, Louisiana. This information comes from Variety. In the Ocean’s trilogy, Schwartz played the character Bruiser.
George Clooney, who starred alongside Schwartz in the hit heist movies, has led the tributes.
He expressed his regret to learn that Scott has passed away. Over the course of our collaboration on three films, I’ve rarely felt such a soft yet profound impact. He was a kind-hearted individual who will be deeply missed.
A spokesperson for Schwartz commented: “People who knew Scott on a personal level often saw him as a cheerful individual bursting with energy, a compassionate and loving person, an enthusiast of food and travel.
Scott deeply cherished life and each person he encountered during his journey. In his spare time when not acting, wrestling, or joking around, he devoted himself to visiting children battling cancer in pediatric hospitals.
Schwartz kick-started his professional journey as a wrestler, later moving into films and television. He first appeared in the ‘Ocean’s’ series as Bruiser in the 2001 initial release, subsequently returning to play the role in ‘Ocean’s Twelve’ (2004) and ‘Ocean’s Thirteen’ (2007).
Besides the Ocean trilogy, Schwartz’s acting resume also features roles in The Scorpion King, Charmed, Star Trek: Enterprise, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Fun with Dick and Jane, and Starsky & Hutch.
In September, news emerged that the next film from the “Ocean” series is progressing, with George Clooney and Brad Pitt expected to resume their roles as Danny Ocean and Rusty Ryan.
Previously, Clooney mentioned that there exists a highly promising script for another installment, but it won’t be titled “Ocean’s 14.” Meanwhile, a prequel film of “Ocean’s 11” is being developed, with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling set to play Danny Ocean’s parents in the upcoming production.
