Best movie new to Netflix this week
I’m so excited about Humint! It’s a brand new South Korean spy thriller by director Ryoo Seung-wan. Apparently, it’s the final piece in his awesome ‘Overseas Location’ trilogy – following up The Berlin File and Escape from Mogadishu, which I both really enjoyed!
The film, featuring Zo In-sung, Park Jeong-min, Park Hae-joon, and Shin Sae-kyeong, is set in Vladivostok, Russia. It follows four individuals whose lives intersect near the North Korean-Russian border. Each character has their own secrets and reasons for being there, and they soon find themselves caught in a complex and risky situation involving betrayals, hidden plans, and growing conflicts.
Humint is a new release and doesn’t have many reviews yet, but the ones it has received are mostly good. The South China Morning Post noted that the story takes a while to start, but then delivers “breathless, non-stop action.”

Released in 1992, Reservoir Dogs was Quentin Tarantino’s first feature film as a director and was hailed by Time Out as a stunning achievement.
Reservoir Dogs is about a team of criminals attempting a diamond robbery. The plan goes wrong when they suspect a member of their group is secretly working with the police, leading to mistrust and violence.
The film features a fantastic cast playing the villains, with actors like Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Steve Buscemi, Lawrence Tierney, and Chris Penn.

Best movie new to Channel 4 this week
In the 2021 film Boiling Point, Stephen Graham plays a chef at a popular London restaurant. As the restaurant faces a particularly hectic night, his personal life and career begin to fall apart.
Director Philip Barantini filmed Boiling Point in a single, continuous shot – a technique he later used for the Netflix series Adolescence. The film has received overwhelmingly positive reviews, earning a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and viewers have praised it as “captivating, brilliant, and outstanding” on IMDb.
I was so thrilled when they turned the movie into a BBC series! It was amazing to see Graham and so many of the original cast – like Vinette Robinson, Hannah Walters, and Izuka Hoyle – back for it too. The series was really well-received, and it was great to revisit those characters and the story.
Also new to Channel 4 this week: Little Monsters (2019), Men in Black, Toy Story 2
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant 100-page tribute to Harry Styles, is now available! You can purchase it at newsstands or online.
