Graziano Di Prima’s comeback is a flop as his new Netflix Christmas film with Matthew Morrison receives very mixed reviews – five months after he was axed from Strictly
As I delve deeper into the captivating world of Giovanni Pernice, a whirlwind of emotions and intrigue swirls around me. It’s a rollercoaster ride that mirrors the very dance floor he graces with such grace and passion. From his triumphant Strictly Come Dancing appearances to his enchanting stage performances, it’s clear that this man lives and breathes dance.
Previously on Strictly Come Dancing, Graziano Di Prima’s return has been met with disappointment, as his recent Netflix movie “A Paris Christmas Waltz” garnered a mix of negative feedback from viewers on Tuesday.
The 30-year-old professional dancer was dismissed by the BBC in July after allegations surfaced concerning serious misbehavior towards his previous celebrity partner, Zara McDermott.
About four months following his exit, it was disclosed that Graziano would be featured in a film, sharing screen time with Matthew Morrison, Jen Lilley, Jade Ewen, and Paul Freeman.
The film set during Christmas time tells the story of Emma (Jen Lilley), who crosses paths with professional dancer Leo (Matthew Morrison). His passion for competitive dancing appears to be waning.
However, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity presents itself for the novice to join the pro.
In the film, Graziano takes on the character of Paolo, a role that was initially shown a year back. Now, you can watch it streaming on Netflix platforms in the United Kingdom, United States, Belgium, and France.
Ever since its debut on the streaming platform last Friday, fans have been vocalizing their thoughts about the holiday-themed romantic comedy across platforms like Instagram and Rotten Tomatoes.
Some people asserted that the movie was extremely disappointing, whereas others pointed out that the primary actors, Matthew and Jen, displayed no on-screen chemistry together.
‘Am watching A Paris Christmas Waltz on Netflix. It is utterly s***’
‘Literally so bad, not even cheesy bad’.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, let me share my personal take on this production. There seemed to be no spark or chemistry among the cast members, which was quite noticeable. The captivating leading lady was often dressed in attire that, unfortunately, aged her beyond her years. The dancing scenes were reminiscent of those Dancing with the Stars contestants who miraculously survive elimination rounds despite their less-than-impressive performances. I find myself questioning how these talented actors agree to be part of such subpar projects.
In a similar vein, others praised the Netflix movie, using words like ‘fantastic’ and ‘wonderful’.
‘Just watched it….loved it’
‘It was amazing! You were Brilliant!’
If you’re fond of ballroom dancing, captivated by Christmas lights, and enjoy a touch of romance along with savoring exquisite French cuisine, then this film is worth watching. The dancing was simply remarkable, causing me to rewatch certain dance sequences multiple times!
Posting the trailer for my Netflix movie on Instagram, Graziano expressed his excitement: “I can’t contain my enthusiasm to share this fantastic update! The film where I played a dual role as both an actor and a dancer, ‘A Paris Christmas Waltz’, is now accessible on Netflix!
‘It’s a significant achievement that this film, which initially premiered on The Great American Family, has now found its place among the largest video streaming services globally.’
He continued: ‘A huge thank you to Michael Damian for making this incredible project possible!
At present, you can stream it on Netflix in America, along with Belgium and France. I’m eagerly anticipating its release in Italy and the United Kingdom as well.
‘Thank you so much for your support, and if it’s already available in your region, don’t miss it!’
After a long period of silence, the dancer made his first comment about his comeback to the limelight on Tuesday.
In an evening stroll, he posted a melancholic video, capturing him walking across a bridge, followed later by his partner and fellow dancer, Giada Lini, joining him.
Accompanying the video, Graziano penned: “Dancing has always been at the heart of my existence, my most ardent enthusiasm, the course I followed and invested countless hours of study, endurance, and affection into.
Following some thoughtful contemplation, I find myself more passionate and energized than before, longing to re-embrace my deepest passion – the art of dancing.
He went on to say: ‘The future holds countless fresh opportunities, waiting to embrace fresh aspirations and hurdles, and I am eager to carry on this trip with even greater resolve and motivation.’
In a heartfelt message to his supporters, Graziano expressed gratitude to all those who have consistently stood by him. He’s excited to dance once more, bringing the same passion and commitment as ever.
Looking forward to connecting with you either live on stage or via upcoming endeavors that I can’t wait to unveil for your enjoyment.
As reported by The Sun, Graziano is seeking legal action against the BBC, hiring prominent attorneys, with the aim of exonerating his name.
Lawyers at Whitestone Chambers have “previously reviewed numerous texts and WhatsApp conversations” and suggest that the individual in question may have grounds to file a lawsuit for wrongful termination.
According to a source, Graziano is encouraged because his legal team believes he has grounds for claiming unfair dismissal, as he felt he didn’t get a fair chance to present his perspective.
It has been noted that they have examined his BBC contract and consider it possible to take legal action. He is considering his choices, yet maintains optimism that he can prove his innocence.
TopMob contacted Graziano’s reps and the BBC for comment at the time.
Last year, the production team expressed strong reservations regarding Graziano’s behavior; however, management chose to address these issues discreetly by giving him subtle warnings instead of taking more decisive action.
The team is reportedly enraged because his dismissal wasn’t immediate, as they believed it should have been. They felt their concerns were disregarded, resulting in the continued mistreatment of Zara and the hiring of Graziano for the next season of Strictly in 2024.
It wasn’t until they obtained a video, which reportedly showed Graziano repeatedly striking Ms. McDermott, that occurred nearly nine months following the initial complaint, that he was terminated from his position.
Graziano later confirmed and regretted his actions against Zara.
Speaking about his departure from Strictly, Di Prima expressed deep remorse on Instagram over the series of incidents that resulted in his exit.
‘My intense passion and determination to win might have affected my training regime.’
In adherence with the BBC’s human resources protocol, I believe it is appropriate for me to withdraw from the show. I regret that my input was not sought for the online news articles, and I understand the delicacy of the circumstances at hand.
As a die-hard enthusiast, I can’t reveal all the intriguing details just yet, but I stand firm in my resolve to support my loved ones through thick and thin. My heartfelt hope is that the Strictly family continues to shine brightly in the days ahead.
In 2018, Graziano became a part of Strictly, and for the previous season, he was paired with a former Love Island celebrity. Unfortunately, their journey ended in week six as they were eliminated.
In my past endeavors, I’ve teamed up with television host Vick Hope, as well as the beloved Judi Love from Loose Women. Last year, I made it to the quarter-finals partnered with talented actress Kym Marsh in a competition.
