Flavia
If you enjoy cozy murder mysteries, this show is worth checking out. It boasts a fantastic cast, including Martin Freeman (known from The Responder), Toby Jones (Mr Burton), Annette Badland (Ted Lasso), Jonathan Pryce (Slow Horses), and Molly Belle Wright. The story centers around a remarkably clever 11-year-old who has a talent for solving crimes.
I’m totally hooked on the Flavia de Luce books! In this one, she discovers a body right in her family’s cucumber garden. It’s shocking enough, but then her dad actually confesses to the murder! Of course, Flavia knows he’s innocent and decides to investigate herself, trying to stay one step ahead of the frustrating Inspector Hewitt. As she digs deeper, she uncovers some really surprising secrets about her dad and what happened to her mother. It’s a fantastic mystery!
Sky Cinema describes the new movie, based on the books by Alan Bradley, as a lovely film for the whole family. It will start streaming this weekend, perfect for Easter viewing.
What to Read Next
Streaming on Sky Cinema/NOW from 4 April.

Thrash
The new survival thriller stars Phoebe Dynevor, known from Bridgerton, as Lisa, a pregnant woman living in a US coastal town. When a massive storm hits, the town faces a terrifying new threat: sharks begin attacking the residents.
Tommy Wirkola, who directed Violent Night, is behind the new horror film Thrash. It was initially called Beneath the Storm and then Shiver, but the current title seems to fit the film’s promise of thrills, especially considering the unsettling trailer featuring the ‘Baby Shark’ song.
The film’s cast also includes Whitney Peak from Hocus Pocus 2, Djimon Hounsou from A Quiet Place: Day One, Alyla Browne who appeared in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and Amy Mathews of Home and Away.
Streaming on Netflix from 10 April.

Balls Up
This new Prime Video movie is a wild and outrageous comedy about two marketing executives who come up with a very daring idea: sponsoring the World Cup with a full-coverage condom brand.
A wild, drunken celebration quickly spirals into a global scandal, forcing the duo to flee for their lives. They must evade angry fans, dangerous criminals, and corrupt officials if they want to save their careers and make it back home safely.
Mark Wahlberg and Paul Walter Hauser (known for The Fantastic Four: First Steps) lead the cast of Balls Up, a new comedy directed by Peter Farrelly. The screenplay is by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers behind Deadpool.
Streaming on Prime Video from 15 April.

Roommates
Need a good laugh? The new Netflix film Roommates might be perfect. It’s about a wide-eyed college freshman named Devon (played by Sadie Sandler, Adam Sandler’s daughter) who asks the effortlessly cool Celeste (Chloe East from Heretic) to be her roommate, and the two quickly become friends.
Things started to get weird with Celeste. I just began to seriously get on my nerves and I didn’t really trust her anymore. It all came to a head during spring break in Panama City – we were doing karaoke, and honestly, all the simmering tension just exploded. It really showed me how crazy things can get with roommates!
The film boasts a fantastic supporting cast featuring Adam Sandler, Natasha Lyonne from Poker Face, Nick Kroll from Big Mouth, Sarah Sherman of Saturday Night Live, Storm Reid from The Last of Us, and Carol Kane, known for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
Streaming on Netflix from 17 April.

Apex
This new action-thriller stars Academy Award winner Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton of Rocketman. The story centers on a woman coping with loss who finds herself hunted by a merciless serial killer after seeking peace in the wilderness. It’s a suspenseful and dangerous game of cat and mouse.
Netflix says the new movie blends intense action with deep emotional moments, promising a gripping and exciting experience. Charlize Theron has also revealed she performed all of her own stunts for the film.
The new film, Apex, brings together talent from several well-known projects. It’s directed by Baltasar Kormákur, who also directed Everest, and written by Jeremy Robbins, the writer behind The Purge. Eric Bana, known for his role in Star Trek, also stars in the movie.
Streaming on Netflix from 24 April.
