Krypto was seriously injured and needed care while Kara went to find an antidote. She teamed up with a young Ruthye Marye Knoll, who was determined to avenge her family’s murder by a man named Krem. However, the comic later revealed Krypto wasn’t actually in critical condition when Kara and Ruthye left. Kara had simply told Ruthye she was on a mission to save Krypto, hoping to help Ruthye understand during their journey that revenge wouldn’t bring her true peace or heal her loss.

Given how popular Krypto the Super Dog was in the 2025 Superman movie, it seems unlikely James Gunn will allow him to die in the 2026 Supergirl film – unless he’s prepared for a major fan backlash.
