Moana 2, Wicked and Gladiator II boost Black Friday box office ticket sales to historic heights

Moana 2, Wicked and Gladiator II boost Black Friday box office ticket sales to historic heights

As a lifestyle expert with decades of experience in the entertainment industry, I must say that the box office performance over Black Friday weekend was nothing short of spectacular! The success of Moana 2, Wicked: Part 1, and Gladiator II has set new records for the day after Thanksgiving.

The movies Moana 2, Wicked: Part 1, and Gladiator II contributed significantly to avoiding a loss in box office sales during Black Friday.

On the Friday following Thanksgiving, it’s estimated that the eagerly awaited trio of movies grossed approximately $98.9 million, as reported by Box Office Mojo.

Deadline reported it was the best ever for the day after Thanksgiving.

Wicked, which debuted at number one last weekend, earned some $32 million on November 29.

Overjoyed and utterly captivated, I found myself swept away by none other than the enchanting animated musical, Moana 2 – a cinematic marvel that’s currently ruling the box office with an iron fist! With a staggering $54.5 million in ticket sales under its belt, this sequel has left me spellbound and yearning for more.

Gladiator II finished the Friday trifecta with $12.4 million.

In simpler terms, the latest earnings along with those from last weekend’s domestic screenings have placed the film adaptation of “Wicked” as the top-earning movie in history that originated from a Broadway musical.

To date, the joint musical featuring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo has generated a total of $478.6 million, with $214.3 million coming from domestic earnings and an additional $264.3 million from international box offices.

Grandé excitedly shared an update from Hollywood Avenue, revealing that “Wicked” has surpassed “Grease” as the top-grossing musical adaptation in the U.S. box office history, a title held by Grease for more than four decades.

Moana 2 scored both domestically and internationally.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’m thrilled to share that the movie featuring the talented voices of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Auli’i Cravalho has raked in an impressive $140 million since its grand premiere in cinemas nationwide on Wednesday.

Worldwide, the animated adventure has earned an additional $52.7 million, bringing its total earnings to $192.7 million.

The large difference in ticket sales could be attributed to run time.

Wicked clocked out at two hours and 40 minutes, which Moana 2 lasts a family friend 100 minutes.

In a surprising turn of events, the movie “Gladiator II,” featuring Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, and Denzel Washington, which initially placed second upon its debut, now finds itself in third position, trailing behind both “Moana 2” and “Wicked” domestically with a cumulative gross of $92.9 million.

On the other hand, the action-adventure movie has proven to be a significantly larger international success so far, raking in approximately $165.5 million overseas, contributing to a total worldwide gross of $258.4 million.

On Friday, Red One earned $4.8 million, while The Best Christmas Pageant Ever brought in $1.35 million, making up the top five films of the day.

The extended holiday weekend has certainly helped boost sluggish movie ticket sales.

On Friday night, I was absolutely thrilled to see a massive surge in ticket sales for those smaller cinematic gems like “Conclave” and “A Real Pain”. The increase was staggering – a whopping 109% for “Conclave” and 96.7% for “A Real Pain”. As an ardent fan, this kind of success just makes my heart swell with joy!
