I don’t care if Skeleton Crew is bad
As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can wholeheartedly say that the anticipation for a new Star Wars series is always a rollercoaster ride. From the highs of The Mandalorian to the lows of Solo: A Star Wars Story, I’ve learned to expect the unexpected in this galaxy far, far away.
Whenever a fresh Star Wars series nears its launch, the same conversation resurfaces: “What if it’s not good?” To this, I respond: “I don’t mind if it isn’t.
Despite being a dedicated Star Wars fan who appreciates all its variations, I’ve encountered difficulties with some of the Disney+ content that the franchise has recently produced. With the hype for Skeleton Crew growing as we near its release date, I find myself questioning if this new story set in a galaxy far, far away will be another one that doesn’t quite resonate with me.
As I’ve pondered on this concern, it’s become clear that neither being ecstatic nor apprehensive about Skelton Crew being the greatest or worst Star Wars series, whether I enjoy it or not, or whether I eagerly anticipate or fear each episode matters little. This time around, my focus is singular: to have an enjoyable experience that differs from all others. My goal now is simply to enjoy myself.
Indeed, attaining this objective may necessitate adjusting some of my less beneficial Star Wars viewing routines. This would entail resisting the urge to dive into social media right after concluding an episode, if I even visit it at all. I might also refrain from delving too deeply into numerous articles brimming with others’ views about the series. Most likely, I will significantly reduce discussions about the show to individuals I interact with in person and trust to engage in insightful, constructive dialogue regarding our observations and feelings about what we’ve watched.
Over the recent years, my Star Wars journey has been somewhat tainted by excessively immersing myself in online platforms. As a creator, I’m required to maintain a certain level of interaction, but I’ve come to realize that I can dial it back a notch. I’m thrilled about how this change might enrich my upcoming viewing experience of the new series.
In essence, Star Wars should always be enjoyable. If it’s not entertaining you, feel free to seek out a version or aspect of Star Wars that brings you joy. There’s no need to adhere rigidly to every new release. Remember, the choice is yours – you’re the one deciding what to engage with and enjoy.
Let’s head into this fresh show for some enjoyable time together! It’s okay if you don’t join us – everyone has their own preferences. Not every Star Wars episode requires deep thoughts or serious analysis. Sometimes, it’s meant to make us laugh. Perhaps that’s exactly what we could use right now. Maybe that’s been our need all along.
