Margot Robbie and her husband, Tom Ackerley, are celebrating the success of their production company, Lucky Chap’s, newest film, Wuthering Heights, which is performing well in theaters.
The couple was seen celebrating with a very lavish purchase – a case of incredibly expensive wine, something most people can’t afford.
On Wednesday in Los Angeles, the couple was spotted leaving a liquor store. Producer Tom was carrying a box of Scarecrow wine, a very expensive brand that costs about $1,500 per bottle.
Margot chose a casual outfit with a black sweatshirt, leggings, and sneakers, but added a touch of luxury with a Chanel handbag and sunglasses.
She wore her newly-cut bob in a half-up style ad clutched a drink bottle in one hand.
Her beau meanwhile sported a grey T-shirt, dark trousers and a black cross-body satchel bag.
Margot’s recent appearance follows concerns raised by leading London establishments, who have stopped serving her gin. The worry stems from the gin containing oysters, which could cause a dangerous reaction for people with shellfish allergies.
Papa Salt Coastal Gin is a unique spirit made with oyster shells, giving it a distinctive flavor. A 700ml bottle typically costs around $80 and is available at stores like Selfridges.
Margot, known for her role in Wuthering Heights, has shared that she wanted her gin brand to remind people of the Australian beaches where she spent her childhood.
Despite its potential, many popular bars and restaurants in London aren’t serving the drink because it contains molluscs, an allergen, and the bottle clearly states this with a warning label.
Margot has updated the ingredients in her spirit, and The Guardian reports that anyone with a shellfish allergy should avoid drinking it.
While gin distillation usually eliminates shellfish proteins, traces can sometimes be found in gin made with oysters.
Reactions to shellfish include anaphylaxis for those with severe allergies, which can be fatal.
The bar owner explained that stocking the gin would require staff training to check for shellfish allergies with every gin and tonic order. They felt the extra time and potential risk weren’t worth it.
The restaurant manager explained they’re already very busy and facing challenges, and don’t want to add the complication of checking for shellfish allergies when people simply order a gin.
A representative for Margot has confirmed they are changing the gin recipe, and a version without oyster is planned to be available by the end of 2026.
The new Australian liquor brand was created by the actress and her husband.
Margot and Tom welcomed their first child, a son, in November 2024. They haven’t shared his name with the public yet.
