15 shows to watch if you love Agatha All Along
As someone who’s spent countless hours binge-watching supernatural dramas, I must say that this list has truly hit the nail on the head! From the captivating world of True Blood to the gothic charm of Penny Dreadful, it seems like we’ve got a veritable feast of enchantment and intrigue at our fingertips.
If you’ve enjoyed the enchanting “Agatha All Along,” here are some additional shows brimming with magical charm that you might like!
The Marvel TV series has proven to be a massive success on Disney Plus. In this upcoming sequel to “WandaVision,” Kathryn Hahn returns as the captivating Agatha Harkness, a witch who orchestrated much of the turmoil behind the scenes. Following her memory and powers restoration, Agatha embarks on a power-seeking journey with the help of other witches and an enigmatic Teen character.
As a devoted viewer, I must say this show masterfully blends dark comedy, heart-pounding action, spine-tingling suspense, gripping drama, and mind-boggling plot twists that will leave you utterly astounded. It’s not just another TV series dealing with witches and magic; it stands out in a crowd. Many shows of its kind cater primarily to the younger audience, but Agatha offers a unique, darker perspective on magic while serving up some quirky, unconventional storytelling that sets it apart from the rest.
Narrowing it down can be hard, but these 15 shows are just for anyone who enjoyed Agatha All Along. They spread a different kind of magical drama and cast a spell on viewers.
Charmed
Initially, let’s discuss the lead characters of a show that originally aired on The WB before its transformation into The CW. This series concluded before the network’s rebranding, and it centered around three outstanding actresses: Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, and the late Shannen Doherty. They portrayed the Halliwell sisters, destined to be witches tasked with protecting the world. In Season 4, a significant change occurred when Doherty departed the series, with Rose McGowan stepping into her role.
The show could be wildly offbeat and silly at times yet also had some darker story arcs and explored the consequences of magic. The last season had Kaley Cuoco added to the cast to spark things up. While the later CW revival didn’t match the original, it, too, had some fun touches. Yet the original is the better choice for one of the best witch-themed shows in TV history that can appeal to Agatha fans.
You can stream “Charmed” on multiple platforms such as Peacock, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and Pluto TV. For those who prefer the revival series, you’ll find it on Netflix.
Runaways
This Hulu series is derived from a Marvel comic and offers an engaging viewing experience. A group of youngsters stumble upon the fact that their parents are collaborating on a clandestine plan to facilitate an alien incursion. This revelation prompts them to uncover their latent powers, with one child transforming into a witch and another learning she possesses half-alien heritage.
Enjoyment levels soar in this series as it introduces Elizabeth Hurley as the wicked sorceress Morgan LeFay, adding an extra layer of intrigue. Not only that, but there’s a surprising crossover with the previously overlooked “Cloak & Dagger” TV show. If you’re a Marvel enthusiast who loves a magical escapade, this series is tailor-made for you and definitely worth watching!

Salem
In an entertaining twist, this TV show on WGN America reimagines the infamous witch trials, using humor. The narrative revolves around a genuine witch named Janet Montgomery who exploits the fear of the trials to undermine the populace and seize power. However, matters become intricate when her past love (Shane West) arrives in town, resurfacing old emotions that complicate their situation.
The three-season span of this show presents a captivating gothic narrative filled with intriguingly macabre twists that might have gone unnoticed. However, it’s well worth revisiting for those who appreciate tales of sinister witches, as they are sure to find enjoyment in it too.

A Discovery of Witches
As a gaming enthusiast, I’d put it like this: “Step into my shoes as we delve into the captivating universe of this AMC series, inspired by blockbuster novels. Here, vampires and witches share a complex existence, often at odds with each other. My character’s journey unfolds around Dana (Diana Bishop), a witch, and Matthew (Matthew Goode), a vampire. Together, we embark on an adventure to unravel the enigmatic secrets hidden within an ancient book.
Experience thrilling journeys encompassing a time-travel narrative intertwined with mysteries and murders, while also following the blossoming romance between the main characters. The three captivating seasons unfold like chapters in a gripping novel, offering an enjoyable viewing experience as the blend of supernatural genres creates a compelling television series.

Mayfair Witches
This intriguing AMC series, featuring the captivating Alexandra Daddario, was influenced by the late Anne Rice’s work. In this show, she portrays a character discovering her ancestral lineage as a witch, and finds herself entangled in a conflict among diverse powers.
Daddario enchants thoroughly in her role as her character evolves amidst the looming shadow of an ominous evil. The intensity and excitement escalate as the series progresses, culminating in a suspenseful cliffhanger. Fortunately, a second season is imminent, making it an ideal moment to get up-to-speed on one of the top witch-themed TV shows available.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
This Netflix series dramatically deviates from the traditional teenage witch narrative, presenting Sabrina, portrayed brilliantly by Kiernan Shipka, as a high school student who casually wields magical abilities. The show’s unique blend of dark comedy and supernatural antics, coupled with occasional appearances of Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick from the original ABC series, adds an entertaining twist to the storyline.
As the series progressed, it became increasingly surreal, featuring moments like two Sabrinas simultaneously appearing. Time travel, demons, and other fantastical elements were introduced, making it even more captivating. Regrettably, the show concluded after only three seasons, leaving room for further development. However, we are fortunate to have this excellent series as a delightful viewing experience.

Witches of East End
Regrettably, this overlooked Lifetime show, based on popular novels, spans just two seasons. The plot revolves around sisters played by Rachel Boston and Jenna Dewan, who uncover that their mother (Julia Ormond) is a centuries-old witch. A peculiar curse dictates that when daughters reach 30, they perish, and their mom becomes pregnant anew to carry on the cycle. As they harness their own powers, the family is resolute in breaking the curse, all while managing diverse romantic entanglements.
A wonderful touch is Madchen Amick as Ormand’s sister with cat-like powers (complete with nine lives) and some wonderful humor. The first season has some good light-hearted stuff, while the second season gets darker. It’s too bad it ended on a cliffhanger, but the actresses alone cast a spell for it to be watchable.

American Horror Story: Coven
The anthology series “AHS” can experience both peaks and valleys across its various seasons. However, many fans consider the third season to be a standout moment for the show. Initially, it may appear as a story about a coven of young witches discovering their abilities. But just like any other season of “AHS,” it delves deeper into complex themes, weaving in multiple timelines and incorporating unexpected twists, all while sprinkling in dark humor that borders on the absurd.
The cast is to die for: Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts, Lily Rabe, Kathy Bates (who won an Emmy for it), Angela Bassett, Patti LuPone, and yes, Stevie Nicks among others. It was such a popular year that several characters popped up in later AHS seasons, yet this year alone is among the best in the franchise’s long history.

Wednesday
This Netflix hit finds an unusual pairing: Tim Burton at the helm of a production inspired by the Addams Family. Jenna Ortega fittingly takes on the role of Wednesday, a student at a peculiar school for otherworldly beings where she’s on a mission to hunt down a menacing creature. Ortega delivers an outstanding performance with her stoic demeanor, clever one-liners, and captivating presence that keeps viewers hooked on the antics.
In a refreshed phrasing: The show, similar to its predecessor featuring Wednesday as the werewolf roommate Enid, iconic dance sequences, Luis Guzman and Catherine Zeta-Jones portraying Gomez and Morticia, and referencing the original film with Christina Ricci in the title role, has been one of Netflix’s top performers. With Season 2 scheduled for release in 2025, it is not only meeting but surpassing expectations set by the timeless franchise.

The Magicians
This Syfy series could be summarized as follows: If Harry Potter was intended for mature audiences, this would be it! The plot revolves around a young man finding out that the magical books he used to read as a child are not just stories; they’re real-life occurrences. As he enrolls in a magic school, things take unexpected turns as the dark side of magic reveals itself, leading to bizarre twists and turns involving otherworldly storytelling, battles with demons, and much more!
This intriguing series is challenging to summarize, as it encompasses various genres from musicals to sitcoms. The cast, particularly the charismatic and profane Margo, consistently delivers exceptional performances. Although it may not be effortless to immerse oneself in fully, anyone seeking a unique perspective on a magical tale can appreciate its charm.

Midnight Texas
I find it quite astonishing that this series graced NBC, given its unique supernatural themes. Yet, even on network television, it managed to shine brightly with minimal hindrance. The title refers to a small Texas town that’s a haven for vampires, werewolves, witches, and other supernatural beings. When a medium who communicates with spirits settles in this town, he soon discovers perils that compel these creatures to unite against common threats. (As a fan, I couldn’t help but be captivated by its mystical allure!)
The series has an enjoyable vibe due to its diverse magical stunts. It significantly improves in Season 2 with Nestor Carbonella and Jaime Ray Newman portraying a mysterious duo, and Newman’s role offers exceptional content. Despite being underappreciated, the two-season span provides some enchanting moments for those who discover it.
Midnight Texas is available to buy on Prime Video
The Fall of the House of Usher
Mike Flanagan is widely recognized for his chilling Netflix series that revolve around horror themes, and this particular one might be his most outstanding. The story unfolds around the affluent Usher family who have tragically lost most of their children under mysterious circumstances. Throughout each episode, the father, played by Bruce Greenwood, recounts these events, with a different child’s story being highlighted in each installment. This series takes inspiration from the works of Edgar Allan Poe and infuses elements of satire as well as gruesome deaths into its narrative.
In a fresh reinterpretation reminiscent of Edgar Allan Poe’s ominous stories, Carla Gugino is spellbinding as the enigmatic figure linked to the family’s downfall. Meanwhile, Mark Hamill delves into an unconventional role, portraying a lawyer tainted by corruption. Each installment skillfully builds tension with compelling narrative, culminating in a thrilling climax. This series would undoubtedly captivate any aficionado of Poe’s dark literature, boasting an exceptional ensemble cast.

True Blood
For those who aren’t easily scared, and especially for adults captivated by supernatural dramas, HBO’s long-lasting success story is undoubtedly a must-watch. The plot revolves around vampires coming out to the public and attempting to assimilate into society using artificial blood as their sustenance. In a quaint Louisiana town, the main character Sookie (played by Anna Paquin), who possesses telepathic abilities, finds herself entangled in a complex love affair with the vampire Bill (Stephen Moyer). This romance is known for its intensity on television screens.
Year after year, the program grows more bizarre, featuring an array of supernatural creatures such as werewolves, witches, ghosts, fairies, and everything else that roams under the moonlight. The actors are exceptional, with Alexander Skarsgard standing out as the vampire Eric, who becomes embroiled in a love triangle. Despite some stumbles in later seasons, the dark humor, heart-pounding suspense, passionate romances, and talented ensemble make it one of HBO’s finest productions to date.

Penny Dreadful
This Showtime series elegantly honors 19th-century British tales by blending elements from popular horror literature. Characters such as Victor Frankenstein and his creature, the eternal Dorian Gray, and even whispers of a Transylvanian count are featured. The captivating Eva Green takes center stage as psychic Vanessa, with Timothy Dalton and others providing strong supporting performances.
The series gets pretty dark, wearing its gothic origins on its sleeve and wonderfully replicating that period. It’s not for the faint of heart and gets downright gory at times yet truly enthralling to watch. Ignore the City of Angels sequel series as this show does justice to its literary roots for a steamy magical watch.

The Secret Circle
If you’re in search of a series featuring a witchy coven with a touch of steaminess, consider giving a chance to this underrated CW production from the creators behind the “Vampire Diaries” franchise. The story revolves around Britt Robertson, a teenager who relocates to a small coastal town and becomes part of a coven. As they navigate their witchcraft, they also deal with typical teenage struggles. The show stands out thanks to the stellar performances by Robertson, Phoebe Tonkin, Shelley Hennig, and Jessica Parker Kennedy.
In Tonkin’s role, she truly shines as the mischievous antagonist within the group, while each of the other characters also receives compelling story arcs. The show excels at gradually unveiling their powers and histories towards an epic climax. It’s regrettable that it didn’t receive a second season since it stands stronger than certain seasons or spinoffs from TVD, and the talent of its actresses alone should have ensured a longer run for the series.
