Jade Thirlwall reveals she was 'scared to promote her heritage' after facing racist remarks in school as she opens up about being half Arabian

As an ardent admirer of Jade Thirlwall, her journey resonates deeply with me. Her courage to embrace and promote her heritage is truly inspiring, especially considering the challenges she faced during her school days. It’s heartbreaking to think about the lack of positive representation she yearned for, but it’s heartwarming to see her stepping up now to fill that void.

Jade Thirlwall has confessed that she once felt apprehensive about showcasing her heritage, which she discussed candidly during an open conversation on Friday.

As a die-hard fan, let me share a bit about the remarkable journey of this extraordinary artist. Born with a rich cultural heritage, I am talking about the half-Arab, one-quarter Yemeni, and one-quarter Egyptian singer who I admire deeply. Growing up in Newcastle, she confided that her secondary school years were not easy; they were marked by feelings of alienation and hurtful racist remarks.

After leaving Little Mix, Jade has expressed that she now feels more self-assured, having recognized a lack of positive role models during her youth.

In an interview with Rolling Stone UK, she expressed that due to the portrayal of Arabs in the media as predominantly negative stereotypes, she felt apprehensive about showcasing her cultural background.

I regret not being the role model I could have been for my younger self. Now, I strive to compensate for that.

After the disbandment of the girl group, Jade mentioned that it took her some time to reclaim her autonomy, as she had dedicated her entire adulthood to the band.

She went on to say: ‘I wasn’t aware of how to be myself as a woman. When we initially paused, I felt bewildered because I thought, “oh no, every choice I’ve made during the past ten years hasn’t been mine”. It took some time for me to regain my individuality.’

On the cover, Jade’s stunning appearance was accentuated while she donned a translucent nude corset paired elegantly with a voluminous, deep blue cravat.

The vocalist adorned her long, dark brown hair with a daring, voluminous arrangement and chose a glamorous, smoky shade palette for her makeup.

For her second pose, she astonished us in a sleek black leather coat that perfectly matched her thigh-high boots, casually seated on the floor while captivatingly looking into the lens.

Following the affectionate show by Jade and her boyfriend Jordan Stephens at the Rolling Stone Awards held in London on Thursday evening.

The singers were unable to tear their gazes away from one another, locking arms, prior to entering the Roundhouse theatre.

In her semi-transparent corset gown adorned with off-shoulder straps, buckles, and a frayed train, the singer from “The Angel of My Dreams” was nothing less than stunningly beautiful.

She paired the bold look with a pair of vintage steam punk-inspired pink boots with a large bow.

Jade let her outfit do the talking as she posed without any jewelry and smoky make-up.

Next to her was her boyfriend Jordan, whom she started dating in 2020 during the initial coronavirus lockdown, when they connected through direct messages on Instagram.

Jordan looked effortlessly stylish in a brown monochrome look.

32-year-old band member of Rizzle Kicks sported a Levi’s corduroy utility jacket in a rich, dark chocolate brown, paired with loose-fitting trousers of the same hue, worn over a brown shirt.

The rapper completed his look with a brown tie and white loafers swept his hair into a top knot.

The musical pair seemed deeply in love, sharing laughter and embraces, before they strolled off towards the awards ceremony together.
