Chelsea nightclub loved by the royals to be reopened by Guy Ritchie’s best man
As a seasoned observer of high society and its intricate web of connections, I find it fascinating to delve into the lives of these influential figures. Let me share my thoughts on some of the most captivating stories from this week’s compilation.
151, located on London’s King’s Road, was a popular basement nightclub that even royalty like Prince Harry frequented. Notably, he once exited the club through an emergency exit (fire escape). Remarkably, George Michael was denied entry to this very same venue.
Giorgio Burlo pointed out that the gentleman in question was adorned with an ear stud, a detail he had specifically prohibited among male patrons at his establishment, which he established back in 1985.
As a lifestyle guide, I’ve had to adapt to a new normal just like everyone else. My usual haunt, a place that’s been an integral part of my life for nearly four decades, has been temporarily closed since the unprecedented events of lockdown. The man behind the veil, Burlo, decided it was time to retire and pass on his guardianship of society’s most intriguing secrets. It’s a significant change, but I look forward to discovering what the future holds for both of us.
Delighted to share some exciting news with you all! Yours truly, a lifestyle connoisseur, has the pleasure to announce that the beloved venue 151 will be reopening come the new year. The man behind this revival is none other than a nightlife maestro, who’s crafted some of the royal family’s favorite haunts – making for an unparalleled experience awaiting you!
60-year-old Piers Adam, who served as the best man at Guy Ritchie’s wedding to Madonna, plans to revive 151 in February with the aim of infusing some elegance into a Chelsea area that has become more corporate in nature.
He shares with me that he believes London is the best city on earth, and King’s Road is its pulse of fashion and elegance. To him, 151 holds a dear place in many Londoners’ hearts, and he eagerly anticipates reopening it. Their aim is to make people feel they don’t have to venture to the West End for an exceptional nightlife experience.
I, being Adam, am fortunate to have Marc Burton, aged 40, as my fellow collaborator in our endeavor. We share a rich history of working together at the renowned establishments, Mahiki and Whisky Mist, both located in the vibrant district of Mayfair.
Together with friend Guy Pelly, Burton later launched Tonteria, a vibrant Mexican-style nightclub situated in Sloane Square. This venue became a frequent haunt for Harry.
In the capital, Tonteria is famous for its unruly evenings often characterized by performers donning bondage-inspired lingerie. A single bottle of tequila would set you back £5,000, and exclusive patrons could enjoy having their beverages transported to their table via a toy train.
In the year 2014, Harry found himself drawn to the club so strongly that he made visits on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays throughout an entire week.
It’s said that during a World Cup celebration, Burton allegedly took phones away from two overly enthusiastic Chelsea fans, who had briefly aimed their devices at Harry as he made his way to join his group of friends in the small VIP area, walking casually by them.
In the end, the girls found themselves crying, yet their phones were ultimately returned. However, it was only after the fuzzy images had been erased from them.
151 was initially graced by James Hewitt, a former love interest of Princess Diana, on its opening night. Burlo mused that doomed socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson had once resided there, while Bob Geldof frequently hosted numerous parties at this establishment.
Previously, he shared some information about their noble benefactors with me: ‘On several occasions, Harry visited. He mingled with the crowd, conversed with people. William maintained a serious demeanor. He was situated in a secluded area, exhibiting an air of royalty; as if he were a future king.’
In an unexpected turn, a prince who is typically more reserved, Prince Edward, made an appearance, accompanied by a group of his companions.
There were also older visitors present, such as actor Leslie Phillips, famous for his fruity-toned “Ding Dong” catchphrase, who joined at the age of 50, and lawyer George Carman, who successfully defended Jeremy Thorpe, a former Liberal leader, when he was accused of plotting to kill his ex-lover, Norman Scott.
Strictly’s Samba was not unfair to Chris, says Nadiya
Some critics labelled the event ‘discriminatory, unfair, and distasteful’ for having Chris McCausland participate in a ‘sambathon’ on the dance floor alongside six other pairs during the past weekend, arguing that it was unfair.
McCausland, who is blind and lacks spatial awareness, was the first to be eliminated.
But Strictly pro Nadiya Bychkova defends the producers’ decision.
At the gathering hosted by Chelsea Dental Clinic and The London Laundry Club, she pointed out that samba dancing doesn’t require spatial awareness. In relation to Chris being eliminated, she stated: ‘I don’t believe his elimination had anything to do with that. The show wouldn’t intentionally put him at a disadvantage.’
‘He blows my mind every week.’
Where’s Rupert? He’s the wally in the red hat!
Has Rupert Everett done his best impression of Where’s Wally?
The star of My Best Friend’s Wedding turned up at the launch party for his friend John Seilern’s travel memoir, Crumbs From The Banquet.
Nonetheless, Everett, aged 65, persisted in donning his woollen hat inside the JGM Gallery in Battersea, south London, much like Wally, the iconic children’s puzzle character known for his bobble hat and glasses.
Single Mia is quids in
Splitting up with Romeo Beckham doesn’t appear to have hit Mia Regan financially.
This 22-year-old fashion model who recently parted ways with David and Victoria Beckham’s eldest son, boasts an impressive physique that many aspire to have.
The most recent financial statements for Mia Regan Ltd, a privately-held company where she deposits her income, show an annual profit of £522,000 – nearly twice the £295,000 earned in 2023. This brings her total accumulated profits to a significant £1.2 million.
It’s tough for the Duchess of Sussex to name her lifestyle business after the attractive part of California where she resides with Prince Harry, as she’s finding it hard to decide on a suitable name.
It’s been shared that Meghan has requested an additional three months from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the registration of American Riviera Orchard, a venture she announced with much enthusiasm nine months ago. Previously, I mentioned that a company holding the trademark Royal Riviera had expressed opposition to her initiative. The company, Harry & David, which specializes in selling fruit, voiced its objection.

Sir Brian May acknowledges that he had feelings for Mary Austin, a boutique manager at the Biba store in Kensington, West London, who was initially Freddie Mercury’s first romantic interest.
The Queen’s guitarist reminisces about asking Mary out, to which Freddie Mercury responded with interest. He said something like, “Oh, is she with you? I’d like to ask her out too.” The guitarist suggested that Mercury should, noting they were just friends. The events that followed became known as history. Later on, Mercury revealed he was bisexual, but their friendship continued. Notably, the singer bequeathed half of his estate to Mary, including his £25million London mansion.
Despite having established himself as a rebel in the music industry with the Sex Pistols, John Lydon now finds inspiration in comedians Bob Monkhouse and Tommy Cooper.
As a die-hard admirer, let me share my take: The iconic 68-year-old punk figure, famously known as Johnny Rotten in his band, has crafted his one-man act inspired by them. He elaborates, “Monkhouse was outrageously impolite, yet hysterically funny. Cooper, I couldn’t fathom; was it masterfully staged chaos or chaotic comedy? The secret lies in the fact that it’s a blend of both.
At The Cavalry and Guards Club, George Carman was honored by Karen Phillips when she unveiled her book titled ‘Get Carman’, a tribute to the late libel attorney. Earlier, he had planned to question Mohamed al Fayed’s banker, but it was almost time for lunch.
After Carman stated, “This witness will be quite brief,” it became apparent that when he took his oath, he was hardly noticeable as he stood above the witness stand.
