Turns out two failed Marvel teams could get a second chance in the MCU

Turns out two failed Marvel teams could get a second chance in the MCU

As a seasoned gamer of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I can attest to the rollercoaster ride that is this expansive and captivating universe. With over two decades of movies and TV shows under its belt, it’s no secret that Marvel has had more hits than misses. Yet, even with their successes, not every project has been a home run – Eternals and Inhumans being prime examples.

For close to twenty years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has thrived, with Marvel Studios predominantly achieving success rather than failure in their film and television lineup. Yet, it’s important to remember that not every MCU project has been a triumphant home run.

The Eternals and Inhumans serve as notable instances where grand concepts, contrary to Marvel’s expectations, didn’t strike a chord with viewers and failed to deliver the anticipated success.

Despite the fact that “Eternals” was incredibly well-made, it didn’t manage to engage audiences as Marvel had planned. Many viewers found it too packed with characters and felt that the introduction of these characters didn’t align well with the overall narrative of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Conversely, Marvel’s “Inhumans” series didn’t make much of an impact, failing to meet expectations and receiving negative feedback from both fans and critics.

Following unsuccessful attempts with these two legendary teams, Marvel appeared to be considering waving the white flag. Yet, it seems Marvel isn’t quite ready to end the story for either team of characters just yet. There’s a strong possibility that the “failed” teams could be given another opportunity within the MCU – if Marvel’s creative minds have their way.

Kevin Feige hints at plans for Inhumans and Eternals in MCU

During a chat with CinePop about Marvel Studios’ forthcoming lineup, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige gave fans a particularly hopeful sneak peek about the potential return of the Eternals and Inhumans in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel an immense sense of pride over the extraordinary ensemble of Eternals. If fortune ever smiles upon us, perhaps we might get any one of them back someday. And let’s not forget about the Inhumans! We caught a glimpse of Black Bolt in Doctor Strange’s Multiverse of Madness, and I can’t wait to see whether, when, or even if they make a comeback – that’s all Kevin Feige hinted at!

It’s great that Feige is leaving room for characters from both Eternals and Inhumans to reappear in the MCU, as these characters should remain part of the storyline. The way Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness incorporated Black Bolt showed us that even if they don’t have a perfect debut, Marvel can create something magical given the right conditions.

The Eternals characters, specifically, left many narrative threads unfinished which we eagerly anticipate will be addressed in upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe installments. We’re anxious to find out what happens next for these fascinating characters. Arishem kidnapped Sersi, Kingo, and Phastos, leaving their whereabouts a mystery; Druig, Makkari, and Thena departed Earth to alert other Eternals about Arishem’s true intentions, only to encounter Eros and Pip the Troll who came offering aid in locating the missing Eternals; Sprite decided to transform into a human; and Dane Whitman heard Blade’s voice advising him as he readied himself to wield the Ebony Blade and assume the role of Black Knight.

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but feel that we’ve only scratched the surface of these captivating storylines set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Just as Feige pointed out, the ensemble cast was nothing short of extraordinary, and honestly, it’s not an exaggeration to say I’d leap at the opportunity to see them grace our screens once more. Here’s hoping that with Feige’s backing, the Eternals and Inhumans will get their well-deserved second chance in some exciting new MCU projects down the line!
