Robbie Williams puts on showstopping performance at Better Man premiere afterparty after shouting out ex Nicole Appleton for being ‘f**king brave’ and letting him tell her abortion story
As I delve into the captivating narrative of Robbie Williams’ life, I find myself utterly spellbound by the rollercoaster ride that is his journey from a boyband member to a record-breaking solo artist. The tale of his meteoric rise, dramatic fall, and resurgence is not just a testament to his indomitable spirit, but also a poignant reflection of the human experience – one marked by triumphs, tribulations, and the relentless pursuit of self-discovery.
At the London premiere of “Better Man” on Wednesday, Robbie Williams delivered an outstanding performance while wearing a pristine white ensemble during the post-event celebration.
Previously of Take That fame, this celebrity unveiled his biographical film, featuring a computer-generated monkey portraying him, on the bustling stage of London’s Leicester Square. Friends, relatives, and fellow artists graced the glamorous red carpet event to celebrate alongside him.
He emotionally shouted out his ex-girlfriend Nicole Appleton, who was also in attendance alongside pal Holly Willoughby, and thanked her for being ‘f**king brave’ and ‘allowing’ him to depict their tumultuous relationship and her heartbreaking abortion in the film.
At Lio London following a movie screening, Robbie exuded an elegant air while stepping onto the stage, dressed in a white shirt, loose-fitting pants, a matching belt, and a silver pendant necklace around his neck.
The performer gave a lively show to the crowd, waving his arms overhead and leaping about while wearing a pair of athletic sneakers.
With an upbeat demeanor, it appeared he was full of energy as the renowned pop artist took the stage, addressing the glittering audience before performing a few of his chart-topping songs.
At the film’s premiere, actress Nicole from All Saints was accompanied by her sister Natalie, husband Stephen Haines, and a friend named Holly. They attended to demonstrate their backing for the movie, as it delves into Nicole’s stormy romantic relationship with Robbie during the nineties.
Later on, Holly posted a video of Robbie’s performance at the after-movie event, acknowledging Nicole during his speech.
He stated, “Nicole Appleton is remarkably courageous for letting us share that part of the tale,” he expressed, guiding the small audience into a round of applause prior to performing his hit track ‘She’s The One.’
In 1997, while they were both working on Top of the Pops, the couple first crossed paths and sparked an intense romance that lasted for approximately nine months. It was within this timeframe that Robbie decided to propose.
But the romance came to an end shortly after Nicole had an abortion in 1999.
On Wednesday, Nicole exuded elegance in a long, shimmering red dress, radiating confidence as she struck poses on the red carpet. Later, she snuggled up next to Holly for some charming self-portraits.
Holly posted some pictures on Instagram, excitedly saying: ‘Tonight, I attended the #bettermanmovie with some amazing ladies… I adore you, @nicoleappleton ❤️ This movie was truly exceptional and deeply touching.’
Before the premiere, Robbie shared with Hello! his reason for inviting Nicole to a preliminary viewing. Later on, he confessed, “The toughest part is witnessing Nicole and our past ordeal, as she was directed to terminate our unborn child…
In a subsequent statement, the singer admitted, “I didn’t force her to act that way, but I was truly abysmal as a partner. I was at the peak of my self-destructive habits related to substance abuse and alcoholism.
It saddens me deeply each time I see it, for she is an absolute angel, yet there remains a tinge of embarrassment connected to the person I once was.
Robbie mentioned that he phoned her right after she departed from the screening, and they both cried before expressing their excitement about embracing each other during Wednesday’s event.
In her 2002 memoir titled Together, Nicole shared the details of her relationship and its subsequent end. She detailed how she became pregnant with Robbie’s child, but due to pressure from their record label, All Saints’, she decided to terminate the pregnancy.
Reflecting on Robbie’s response when I told him about my pregnancy, he expressed: “Robbie Williams placed his hand on my bump and shared, ‘This little one is giving me a new purpose in life.’
In the beginning, Robbie supported his ex’s choice to include her abortion experience in her memoir. However, he confessed that revisiting the event left him emotionally shattered.
If there’s a feeling or belief so strongly ingrained within you that it seems beneficial for both your mental health and well-being to share it, since keeping secrets can cause harm, then I wholeheartedly support her. He had expressed this sentiment in an interview with The Daily Mail earlier.
Additionally, Robbie delved into his personal experiences with Nicole during their shared past in the candid Netflix documentary he released not long ago.
Footage from home videos revealed the popular duo, who initially connected on Top of the Pops in 1997, captured during the early stages of their romantic relationship.
The video subsequently reveals the instant when an ecstatic Robbie, amidst his thriving solo career at that point, popped the question during a quick phone conversation.
Reflecting on our nine-month journey, marked by several separations, I, being an advocate for healthy relationships, acknowledge that at various points, I found myself unprepared for the commitment required.
Robbie has been working on Better Man since 2021 – with the film set for release on December 26.
In the movie, the character of the singer is played by actor Jonno Davies using computer-generated imagery (CGI), depicted as a monkey. Although Jonno plays the younger version of Robbie, the real singer’s voice can be heard through narration and later appears in the role of the older version himself.
‘The movie “Better Man” tells the real-life tale of Robbie Williams, the exceptional British pop sensation, who experienced rapid success, a dramatic downfall, and an astonishing comeback – one of history’s greatest entertainers.’
In the creative leadership of Michael Gracey (of ‘The Greatest Showman’) fame, this movie offers a distinctive point of view through the lens of Williams, showcasing his distinctive humor and unbreakable spirit.
The narrative traces Robbie’s path, starting from his childhood, moving on to his tenure as the youngest member of the chart-topping boyband Take That, progressing further to his unprecedented accomplishments as a record-breaking solo artist. Throughout this journey, he encounters the trials and tribulations that come with immense fame and success.
