New Bridget Jones poster reveals the tough choice the iconic singleton has to make as she deliberates between two very handsome men
As a die-hard fan of the Bridget Jones saga, I must say that I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming fourth instalment! Having grown up with Bridget, her misadventures, and her unyielding quest for love and self-discovery have become an integral part of my own journey.
A fresh Bridget Jones poster unveils the challenging decision our beloved single character will need to face, torn between two extremely attractive gentlemen as she ponders her path.
In the long-awaited fourth movie titled “Mad About The Boy,” character Bridget, portrayed by Renee Zellweger, ends a four-year dry spell in her love life by pursuing a significantly younger partner.
In the third part of the series, the well-known character wed her intermittent lover, Mark (played by Colin Firth). Unfortunately, he passed away tragically, leaving her a widow with two kids.
While visiting the local park, Bridget unexpectedly discovers her kids trapped high up in a tree. Fortunately, she receives help from two handsome gentlemen – Leonardo Woodall from ‘The White Lotus’ and Academy Award-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor – who come to their rescue.
The fresh poster adds fuel to the love triangle, suggesting a close moment between Bridget and Chiwetel in one image, while another depicts Leo embracing the star.
In the trailer, Bridget finds herself motivated to re-enter the dating scene and coincidentally crosses paths with an attractive, younger gentleman named Roxster [Leo]. Their encounter results in a spellbinding, unforgettable night together.
Before long, she discovers herself caught up in a fierce competition among three suitors vying for her affection: Roxster, our male counterpart; the charismatic Mr. Wallaker, portrayed by Chiwetel Ejiofor; and the notorious Daniel Cleaver, played once again by Hugh Grant.
As the trailer progresses, Bridget’s romantic relationship with Roxster intensifies, culminating in a breathtakingly passionate encounter between them following their date.
Yet, as more encounters with Mr. Wallaker grew flirtatious, Bridget found herself perplexed. Eventually, she inadvertently entered a barn to discover him partially undressed.
The highly-acclaimed series continues with its fourth part, which is adapted from the book sharing the same title by Helen Fielding.
2016’s film “Bridget Jones’ Baby” concluded with Bridget learning she was pregnant in a surprising turn of events. In the end, she married Mark, the lawyer whose romantic feelings towards him fluctuated throughout the trilogy, and it was revealed that he was indeed the father of her child.
In the novel “Mad About The Boy,” I find myself, regrettably, in a role I never wished to assume – a widower. My character, Bridget, finds herself in a similar predicament when her husband, Mark, passes away while working tirelessly as a human rights lawyer overseas. Left alone to navigate motherhood, she embarks on a journey that forms the narrative of the book.
Additionally, she decides to leave her job in television to handle the school drop-off, which may bring humorous situations due to her challenges in keeping pace with the ‘Fashionable Moms’.
Fans of Bridget Jones will undoubtedly be thrilled by an exciting sequence where Roxster leaps into a swimming pool to save a small pup, reminiscent of the famous gaze of Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice.
This year, it was formally announced that the film will be made. The script has been written by authors like Helen, Abi Morgan, Dan Mazer, and Michael Morris is set to direct.
Helen was seen on set, getting ready to bid farewell to her cherished character in the series.
According to a movie insider, who spoke to The Mail On Sunday in February, Bridget is set for a return and will soon dominate the streets of London. Preparations for filming are well underway.
‘All of the pre- production is in place. There was some uncertainty about whether it would get off the ground, but the movie is coming…
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I can’t contain my enthusiasm for the return of Bridget! This beloved character is near and dear to my heart, and it seems that Bridget Jones mania is poised to take over London this coming spring.
Previously when asked about a possible fourth movie, author Helen expressed to Radio Times: “Making every film is a miracle…
Creating films is quite challenging, ensuring they come to life in a satisfying way. We strive for excellence, and our ambition is to produce something truly remarkable. Here’s hoping we can pull it off, as I eagerly anticipate seeing this project unfold on the big screen.
Last year, there were rumors circulating that the film was canceled because of U.S. actor strikes, but reliable sources dismissed these claims as “misinformation.
In 2001, the debut film titled “Bridget Jones’s Diary” earned a massive $222 million at the cinema, which was over ten times its production budget.
In my expert opinion, not only will fans be thrilled to witness Renee and Hugh reprise their beloved roles, but they’ll also delight in the return of the quirky duo, Jim Broadbent and Gemma Jones, as Bridget’s eccentric parents, Colin and Pamela.
In addition to Bridget, her friends Sharon, Jude, and Tom (portrayed by Sally Phillips, Shirley Henderson, and James Callis) will be returning as well.
In the third movie, we’ll see Sarah Solemani reprise her character as Bridget’s friend Miranda and a news presenter at Hard News. Additionally, Emma Thompson will make another appearance as Dr. Rawlings.
When Colin Firth’s name didn’t show up on the cast roster for the fourth movie, viewers worried that his character, Mark, might not be present in the film at all, given that he meets his end in the novel.
Contrarily, it has been disclosed by The Mail on Sunday that Colin will indeed be featured in the movie, following their release of unique images from the film set a month ago, depicting Renee affectionately engaging with The King’s Speech co-star.
With Mark’s distinctive suit and tie, Colin gently touches the face of his fellow actor, dressed elegantly in a green gown and leather boots.
It came to light that the plan was for Colin’s comeback to be a big shock, as movie executives were extremely anxious to conceal it.
A source said: ‘Colin was always going to appear in the movie but it was supposed to be a secret.’
In the 2016 film Bridget Jones’s Baby, Bridget attends a memorial service for Daniel, her former partner who was believed to have died in a plane crash, only to discover later that he had miraculously survived.
In the United States, “Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy” will be available for streaming on Peacock starting February 13, 2025, while in the UK, it will debut in cinemas a day later on Valentine’s Day, February 14.
