Inside Laura Hamilton’s huge renovation project: Star reveals she’s knocked down most of her new Mallorcan holiday home as she shares a glimpse at exciting property plans
I find myself deeply moved by the captivating story of Laura Jackson, a woman who has navigated the complexities of fame with grace and resilience. Her journey from appearing on children’s television to becoming a beloved presenter on A Place In The Sun is nothing short of inspiring.
Laura Hamilton, from A Place In The Sun, shared some insights into the significant remodeling work she’s undertaking for her new vacation residence in Mallorca.
42-year-old speaker and real estate specialist became the owner of a house nestled in the core of Pollença as far back as August. They opted for purchasing it exactly as it was presented, without any additional alterations or negotiations.
This implies that she faced a considerable task, as the place was adorned in a traditional, antiquated manner with vintage furnishings and required a thorough overhaul.
She has also ended up knocking down most of the house in order to create her dream ‘plunge pool’ as a centre piece to the holiday house.
On Thursday, she shared a message with her followers on Instagram, saying: “Check out how much progress I’ve made…
In August, I acquired a property in Mallorca that I intend to use as a vacation home. Given my nature, however, this wasn’t just a simple buy; it was a ‘renovation project‘. This endeavor is quite extensive, but I’m thoroughly enjoying every step of the process and the subsequent changes it will bring.
Instead of frequently sharing updates about my renovation here, since I understand that it might not appeal to everyone’s interest, I’ve opted to establish a different page dedicated solely to my project. You can find more details about it on @myrenovationinthesun.
Laura mentioned that it was challenging to clear out the house situated on a narrow city street, and it required a team of eight individuals to complete the task over the course of three days.
The whole back of the house had been demolished and the roof terrace has gone in order to create a space for a courtyard garden with a plunge pool.
She’s additionally renovated the outdated bathroom, downstairs bedroom, and kitchen, transforming them into a more contemporary layout.
It comes last month Laura admitted she feels ‘more happy and secure about herself’ after facing cruel trolls – as the presenter opened up about her blossoming romance with a married CEO.
She is well known for delighting fans with her stunning looks across her social media pages.
However, the mother of two acknowledges that her achievements have not been without their toll, as she’s had to develop a tough exterior to deal with harsh online critics.
In July, it was reported by TopMob that Laura has been in a relationship with CEO James Pettigrew, who is 44 years old, since January. More recently, the celebrity has openly expressed feelings of security, even though she has encountered criticism regarding her appearance from internet trolls.
It can be quite challenging when one encounters remarks such as, “She seems to have overdone it with facial treatments,” according to her statement to The Sun. She believes the reason for this judgment might stem from her prominent cheekbones.
“Well, that’s me, and it’s just my reality. People sometimes comment, ‘She must have implants,’ but I don’t. If they choose to think otherwise, that’s their prerogative.
‘It’s kind of a bit laughable that people make statements and they don’t know the facts.’
However, Laura has eventually achieved a sense of equilibrium, primarily due to the passage of time. She expressed that ‘with age, I believe one tends to feel healthier,’ and further stated that she now feels ‘happier within myself and more confident’ about who she is.
She paid a special tribute to her loved ones including her mum, dad and her children – calling herself ‘very lucky’ for having such ‘supportive’ people around her ‘who accept and love each other’.
Laura has a son named Rocco and a daughter called Tahlia with her former husband, Alex Goward, whom she married in 2012 but later divorced in 2022.
Sources close to the couple say CEO James has been ‘spending all his time’ with Laura.
However, it appears that the emergence of this couple’s bond has caused distress for James’ former spouse, as a confidant revealed that she was initially oblivious to her husband’s romantic involvement with Laura at the outset of their relationship. Now, she is reportedly enduring a difficult divorce as a result.
At the Scottish FA Cup Final in May, photographs showed Laura and James, who have two daughters with Jackie, cheerfully together. They were privileged guests, utilizing their corporate passes, to watch the intense competition between longstanding rivals Celtic and Rangers.
In August, Laura shared with The Sun’s Fabulous Magazine that she is currently dating and enjoying herself. She mentioned that she doesn’t use dating apps, having attempted them over the past three years. After using Raya, she concluded it wasn’t suitable for her preferences. Instead, she prefers meeting people naturally.
The well-known television personality also confessed that her celebrity status frequently sparks discussions with prospective partners.
She mentioned: ‘People often glance at me and comment, “You seem familiar…” which usually initiates a discussion.’
However, the talk show host was caught off guard when the man she went out on a date with began inquiring about real estate matters, requiring her to clarify that it wasn’t the purpose of their encounter.
The striking woman admitted that navigating the world of dating can sometimes be complicated due to her frequent travels for filming purposes.
Later, she playfully suggested that ideally she could have a companion in each nation, but quickly clarified that monogamy was the relationship style she was committed to.
Laura joked: “It’d certainly make for an intriguing tale if I had a man in each nation. Ha-ha!
‘Oh, she’s got one in Ibiza, she’s got one in Ibiza, one on Mallorca. No, that’s not who I am.’
Since 2012, Laura has been one of the regularly featured hosts on Channel 4’s lifestyle program A Place In The Sun.
In 2003, she started gaining recognition when she appeared on the well-known kids’ show “Fun Song Factory” on CITV, sharing the screen with Aston Merrygold from the band JLS.
Additionally, Laura was involved with hosting both Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards and negotiations for presenting The X Factor’s companion program, known as The Xtra Factor.
After gaining popularity on A Place In The Sun, Laura subsequently participated in Dancing On Ice, finishing as the runner-up.
