Kellie Pickler at war with late husband’s parents over property… 20 months after his suicide
As a lifestyle expert with years of personal and professional experience under my belt, I find myself deeply saddened by the legal battle between Kellie Pickler and the parents of her late husband Kyle Jacobs over his personal property. Losing a loved one is never easy, but adding a contentious dispute to an already tragic situation only complicates matters further.
Kellie Pickler and the family of her deceased husband, Kyle Jacobs, are engaged in a court dispute regarding his possessions after his unfortunate demise.
38-year-old Pickler has submitted a legal request challenging Reed and Sharon Jacobs, administrators of Kyle’s estate, regarding possessions they assert were Kyle’s before his passing. This action was disclosed in court records acquired by InTouch on Wednesday.
On February 17, 2023, Kyle tragically took his own life at the age of 49. Although they had been a couple since 2008, Pickler chose not to manage Kyle’s estate, enabling his parents to step in and handle it instead.
The dispute centers around a document called the ‘List of Assets,’ created by Kyle’s parents, which includes personal items they have requested via subpoena, per the outlet.
In Kyle’s inventory, you’ll find several firearms such as three rifles, seven handguns, a shotgun, a suppressor, and a gun cabinet.
Among the items I’m keenly interested in are Kyle’s watches, his jewelry collection, his baseball cards, various musical instruments, and his personal devices, which include his work laptop and iPhone.
Pickler’s lawyer contends that certain items aren’t owned by her, or there’s disagreement over who owns them.
As an ardent admirer, I’m compelled to share my take on this matter: In my plea, Pickler alleges that following Kyle’s demise, his parents breached the sanctity of my home to seize belongings, yet they neglected to supply me with a comprehensive inventory of the items taken.
She is now asking the court to compel Reed and Sharon to identify the items they removed.
In this case, Ms. Pickler is asking for an order that compels the co-administrators to disclose the items they took from her house. (The petition states this.)
Pickler has also asked the court to resolve the ongoing conflict regarding the property.
Reed and Sharon, on the other hand, challenge Pickler’s statements, asserting that she has failed to comply with a subpoena demanding the return of the estate’s assets.
People claim that Pickler has shown a lack of cooperation, giving contradictory details regarding the place and possession of the belongings.
The Jacobs family acknowledges they went to Pickler’s residence to collect specific items, but they stress that this action had Pickler’s clear approval and was agreed upon by both her and her legal representative.
Additionally, they assert that Pickler had already arranged the items they were referring to specifically for them, so there was no need to provide a list of those items.
The couple’s prenup, which outlined the division of property, is also a point of contention.
Reed and Sharon asked for Pickler’s petition to be thrown out, based on the conditions outlined in the agreement.
Currently, a protective order has been issued for Pickler to ensure that her deposition transcript or video is not disclosed to the public.
Her legal team argues that such disclosure would cause undue embarrassment and burden.
The Jacobs family have raised objections to the protective order, arguing that the court’s reasoning behind the decision was not adequately explained, particularly in relation to the consideration given to ‘avoiding embarrassment.’
As of now, the case is ongoing, with both sides preparing for further legal proceedings.
In June, Kellie sold the home she shared with Kyle 15 months after he passed away.
Approximately half a year following the initial listing at approximately $3 million, the country musician successfully completed the deal to sell their personalized four-bedroom, five-bathroom residence for $2.3 million.
A spacious Tudor-style home measuring approximately 4,875 square feet has served as the long-term residence for a married couple since it was their shared dwelling. Tragically, the author Jacobs ended his life at age 49 within this house in February 2023.
Approximately eight and a half months following his sad demise, she chose to list the house for sale at $2.89 million. In March, recognizing the need to quickly dispose of it, she lowered the price to $2.6 million.
Back in January 2010, a former contestant from American Idol, who later became well-known after placing sixth on the fifth season, bought a property for approximately $1.43 million – this was a year prior to her wedding to a music producer.
