Brittney Saunders complains she was ‘robbed’ at the 2024 TikTok Awards after missing out on top gong
As an ardent admirer of Brittney Saunders, I can’t help but be captivated by her spirit and resilience. Her recent ‘robbed’ comment at the TikTok Awards, though playful, is a testament to her unyielding ambition and determination.
At the 2024 TikTok Awards, Brittney Saunders expressed disappointment, stating she felt cheated because she didn’t win one of the prestigious awards.
At the yearly event held at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Wednesday evening, the businessperson who is a millionaire entrepreneur was chosen as a contender for TikTok’s Business of the Year award.
Instead, it was influencer Kat Clark, the co-founder of skincare brand Kaladé, who received the award, while the CEO and founder of Fayt fashion label didn’t win.
After the lavish event during which Bridey Drake was crowned TikTok Creator of the Year, Brittney humorously posted on Instagram, suggesting she had been unfairly denied the title.
Posting an eye-catching up-close photo showing her dismay, she wrote in the caption: ‘Stolen from twice within a week, xx.’ or ‘Twice this week, I’ve been robbed – look at my face! xx.’
In addition, Brittney posted a video on her Stories, where she humorously expressed her disappointment for not being able to deliver a triumphant speech following her arrival home, as she had expected.
‘I’m just going to take off my jewellery in absolute disappointment now, just kidding,’ she said.
“In essence, we’re the ones celebrating victory. Let me explain why – we now possess an assortment of delicious cheeses that were not part of our journey until now, so who can claim the title of ‘winner’ other than us?
As a humble nominee, I’ll confess that I did draft a speech for the possibility of winning, yet I want to express my sincere delight at merely being nominated. To clarify, my earlier Instagram post was meant in jest.
She went on to say, “I felt privileged just to be nominated. Only five individuals were nominated in each category, so being among them was truly an honor.
I’d like to add that I’m not at all upset, and there are no ill feelings on my part. I was aware that I had previously shared that post.
‘Regardless of how enjoyable and impressive awards may be, they don’t fundamentally alter anything for those who receive them or those who do not. In essence, life carries on as usual, win or lose.’
She was disappointed since she had prepared a pleasant speech, but she could always deliver a speech here every day instead, she joked.
In the Business of the Year category, Brittney had also been up against jewellery business owner Jasmine Hand, blogger Brooke Saward and Chebbo’s Burgers owner Ali Chebbani.
A business that significantly expanded its presence on TikTok, cultivated a devoted clientele, and experienced increased sales during the year 2024.
