However, having seen the likes of James Bond being portrayed by multiple actors without compromising the essence of the character, I’m confident that the same magic will work for our beloved Witcher.

The popular fantasy series on Netflix, titled The Witcher, is currently undergoing an intriguing transformation. In the third season, actor Henry Cavill portrayed the lead character Geralt of Rivia for the last time; when The Witcher returns in season 4, Liam Hemsworth will step into the role under a white wig. We’re now moving into a part of Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher novels where the storyline shifts its focus from Geralt to Princess Ciri (Freya Allan), as strange, multiverse-related elements become more prominent in the second half of the tale. The key lies in staying faithful to the world, and as long as the actor is talented and the scripts remain solid—which they are—I believe the changeover will happen seamlessly.

Regarding any details about the recast, McTavish was rather secretive, humorously commenting, “I can’t reveal much or they might just eliminate me!” However, he did mention that working with Liam Hemsworth was a delightful experience. There’s certainly a lot happening – the typical intrigue and conflicting agendas among the characters you’d anticipate from this series.

It seems quite unlikely that McTavish would disclose too much information, but it’s intriguing that he mentioned he’ll appear alongside Hemsworth in the show. As I remember, Dijkstra and Geralt don’t interact post-Thanedd coup in the Witcher books, which was depicted in season 3. If these characters share screen time in season 4, it indicates that the series might be taking a different narrative path.

Another possibility suggests that the show might be reshooting certain key scenes from Season 3, replacing Henry Cavill with Chris Hemsworth as Geralt. For instance, it seems they could be filming Geralt’s duel with Vilgefortz on the Thanedd beach again. This could incorporate meta elements into the series, potentially delving into how Geralt is portrayed historically and offering insights as to why he appears differently in this season. If true, it’s plausible they might have reshot Geralt’s last confrontation with Dijkstra, where he fractured Dijkstra’s leg.

It’s been confirmed that Nathan Armarkwei Laryea, the actor who portrays Valdo Marx, the bothersome bard rival to Jaskier (Joey Batey), is set to reappear in The Witcher season 4. According to our reliable sources, this character will show up in either Episode 5 or 6 of the new season.

I won’t lie, this is a bit of news I could have done without. I generally enjoyed The Witcher season 3 a lot, but Valdo Marx’s incongruously modern music was one of the few hairs in the soup. I still cringe thinking about it. That’s no fault of Laryea, who did a fine job as the bard, but more an overall choice of The Witcher to include a strangely modern style of music in a medieval fantasy world as part of a gaudy punchline. It just didn’t quite work for me, but maybe I’m biased because of how well The Witcher video games included music that was both catchy and appropriate to the medieval world. I’ve been spoiled by Priscilla, what can I say.

According to Redanian Intelligence, actors such as Gareth David-Lloyd, Gary Oliver, Rowan Polonski, Joanne Zorian, Alex Badini, Tia Dutt, Stephen Aaron-Sipple, Maddie Stoneman, and Martyn Hodge are set to join the cast for the upcoming season 4 of The Witcher. As we eagerly await its return in 2025, we can look forward to seeing these newcomers along with Dijkstra, Valdo Marx, and Hemsworth-Geralt. Filming has already been completed in late October.
