First look at new British thriller with Torchwood star

As a fan with a penchant for gripping British thrillers and a soft spot for strong female leads, I can hardly contain my excitement for Paramount+’s upcoming series, The Crow Girl! The prospect of Eve Myles (Torchwood, Broadchurch) playing DCI Jeanette Kirkland, teaming up with the sophisticated and poised Sophia Craven, portrayed by the talented Katherine Kelly (The Long Shadow), has me positively buzzing.

Paramount+ has unveiled a set of first look photos for upcoming British thriller The Crow Girl.

The six-episode series features Eve Myles from Torchwood as DCI Jeanette Kirkland, who joins forces with psychotherapist Sophia Craven (Katherine Kelly from The Long Shadow), following the discovery of mystery victims, young men, in and around Bristol.

Under increasing scrutiny and with insufficient proof, detective Jeanette seeks assistance from Dr. Sophia Craven, the psychotherapist of main suspect Carl Lowry. Dr. Craven provides an innovative yet unsettling viewpoint regarding the case.

However, as the dangerous individual moves nearer to their base, Jeanette and her colleagues find themselves in a desperate struggle to unravel the complex tapestry of hidden truths to crack this case before it’s too late.

The latest images reveal Jeanette alongside her long-term companion and previous guide, DI Lou Stanley, portrayed by Dougray Scott from the show “Vigil”. Additionally, we get a glimpse of Kelly’s character, Sophia, described as both sophisticated and composed.

In addition, Lou is sometimes accompanied by diligent rookie detective Mike Dilliston (Elliot Edusah from the movie “1917”), as Lou guides him through his initial murder investigation.

Alongside Clara Rugaard portraying Victoria Burkeman, we have Victoria Hamilton stepping into the role of Superintendent Verity Pound, and ChloƩ Sweetlove playing Madeleine.

The series “The Crow Girl”, based on the trio of books by Erik Axl Sund titled the same, is brought to life for television by Milly Thomas. In this production, both Charles Martin and Rebecca Rycroft take on directing roles.

After the series was officially announced earlier in the year, Myles shared that the initial weeks on set have been quite fantastic for the team, and expressed eagerness for audiences to get acquainted with her intriguing character, Jeanette.

I find the book captivating, and I’m particularly impressed with Milly Thomas’ writing. I can’t wait to delve into the character of Sophia as the story progresses, revealing more about her.

The Crow Girl arrives on Paramount+ early next year.
