Jimmy Kimmel avoids Garth Brooks’ sexual assault case in softball interview which leads singer to cry
As a seasoned observer of human dynamics and relationships, I find myself deeply disturbed by the unfolding saga involving Garth Brooks and his former associate. The allegations against him are grave, and it is heartbreaking to witness such a public fall from grace for someone who has brought so much joy to millions through his music.
In a gentle interview, Jimmy Kimmel didn’t address the allegations of sexual assault against Garth Brooks, resulting in the country artist becoming emotional.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the 57-year-old talk show host appeared to steer clear of challenging queries during his conversation with the 62-year-old Grammy winner and musical performer, taking place on Monday evening.
Eventually, Garth found himself on the filming set in Los Angeles, despite earlier cancelling the show. This comes amidst his ongoing courtroom fight with an ex-employee who alleged sexual assault against her, a claim he denies which was made in a lawsuit filed recently.
The singer famous for “Friends in Low Places” wasn’t initially questioned about a grave matter, yet ended up shedding tears as he became nostalgic over family Christmas customs shared with his wife Trisha Yearwood and their trio of daughters.
He said: ‘For me, [Christmas tree] ornaments are cool, but they gotta have a meaning to them.
Yearwood and I often adorn our decorations with the trio of girls. This practice dates back to when we first met. Thus, the trio of bells are always the initial ornaments placed on the Christmas tree for them.
Garth divides the responsibility of rearing three daughters – Taylor Mayne Pearl (age 32), August Anna (age 30), and Allie Colleen (age 28) – with his former spouse Sandy Mahl, while also co-parenting with his current wife Trisha, who is also a well-known country singer aged 60.
He began fighting back tears and even apologized saying: ‘I’m gonna start crying, sorry.
As the very first ornament adorns our tree, it signals the arrival of the festive season. And with Christmas comes a special opportunity – let’s set aside our differences and share warmth, laughter, and joy with one another, shedding all trivial conflicts along the way, to embrace the spirit of togetherness and fun.
Some fans were not pleased with Jimmy’s failure to bring up Garth’s current legal battle.
A Twitter user (previously known as X) posted: ‘I’m a fan of Kimmel and his program, but I can’t help but wonder why they had Garth Brooks on without addressing the obvious issue? Also, it seems unusual that Brooks refers to his wife as Miss Yearwood.’
Some people also proposed the idea that perhaps Kimmel is avoiding controversy since he has already found himself in the middle of it before.
An X commenter said: ‘To be fair Garth Brooks didn’t bring up Kimmel wearing black face.’
The social media user was referring to the controversy surrounding the talk show host when he wore blackface in TV sketches dating back to the 90s in which he impersonated the likes of NBA player Karl Malone and Oprah Winfrey.
Back in June 2020, he publicly apologized on Jimmy Kimmel’s show for a recurring impression he did in the mid-90s on KROQ radio of NBA player Karl Malone. He also admitted to continuing this impersonation on TV throughout the late 90s. To make his portrayal as authentic as possible, they hired makeup artists to help him resemble Karl Malone as closely as they could.
I didn’t think it would be perceived as anything other than a portrayal of another person, just like Karl, regardless of his skin tone or physical attributes such as muscle mass and baldness.
I’ve created numerous imitations of well-known personalities such as Snoop Dogg, Oprah, Eminem, Dick Vitale, Rosie, among others. It’s important to note that these are simply imitations of famous figures, not an attempt to embody or represent them in any deeper sense.
Reflecting on them now, several of these drawings feel cringeworthy, and it’s disheartening that careless instances from the past are being exploited by certain individuals as a means to undermine the validity of my critiques against societal and other forms of inequalities.
Later on, it was reported by The U.S. Sun on Monday that Garth unexpectedly performed an impromptu show towards the end.
In a complete black outfit, adorned with a hoodie bearing the name of the late Chris LeDouw, the performer of “Friends in Low Places” confidently stepped onto the stage.
As a die-hard Pirates fan, I couldn’t resist pairing my favorite team’s cap with a sharp black tee and some classic black jeans for the weekend. Every Father’s Day, it seems like the MLB teams don their teal colors, so I wanted to pay tribute to my beloved Bucs!
1iota, the ticketing company, informed ticket holders that the outdoor mini-concert by Garth Brooks, originally scheduled for November 25th, will be held outdoors as initially planned, as reported by the outlet.
The concert had been previously ‘canceled with no explanation,’ The U.S. Sun reported.
Last week, 1iota informed ticket holders for the show that it was ‘no longer happening as planned; it has been canceled.’ This is according to the report from the outlet.
The company confirmed that the event will not be postponed, citing the evolving dynamics of television programming as the reason for the sudden shift in plans.
The company explained that the choices made during television production may change for several reasons. Regrettably, such uncertainties are part of the TV industry.
Dailymail.com has reached out to Brooks’ reps for comment on the issue.
Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, this individual was previously spotted heading towards Jimmy Kimmel’s studio in Hollywood, California, dressed casually in a black sweater with the words ‘Life is good’ emblazoned on it.
To complete his outfit, he added a pair of blue sweatpants and brown Nike sneakers, while carrying a big blue Nike sports bag slung over his shoulder.
On Monday afternoon, a couple of posts on Brooks’ X/Twitter account announced that he was due to make an appearance.
This evening, Garth Brooks is appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and he’ll be accompanied by his entire band! -Garth’s Team shared this information at 3:09 PM Pacific Time.
At 4:29 PM Pacific Time, another post shared a video clip featuring the country artist, accompanied by the caption, “Behind the scenes at Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tonight we have the entire band here!! Love, g.” (implying it was from ‘g’ or someone associated with them)
Responses were only allowed from users that Brooks follows, or those who had been mentioned in a tweet by him, during this current lawsuit.
Earlier this month, Brooks initiated the process to transfer his case to the federal court, following a complaint by a former employee who alleged sexual assault against him.
As a die-hard enthusiast of country music, I can’t help but share this exciting update: On November 1st, my beloved superstar took action! He submitted documents to transfer his case against the woman, who was initially known as ‘Jane Roe’ in anonymity, from the California Superior Court straight into federal court. According to People, that’s the latest scoop!
The documents suggest that Brooks’ lawyers have petitioned for a transfer of the case due to his accuser demanding compensation beyond $75,000, an amount within the jurisdiction of federal courts.
Previously, the performer strongly refuted the accusations made by a woman, instead, he stated that he was targeted for extortion, and alleged that the claimant attempted to coerce him through threats in legal papers.
During a conversation with Entertainment Tonight, legal advisor Tre Lovell pointed out that since Brooks hails from Tennessee and Roe from Mississippi, there’s a possibility that Brooks could request the lawsuit be transferred to a federal court due to their differing state residences.
One benefit of a federal trial could be that it offers a “swift trial schedule” and access to a “diverse jury panel.
In Los Angeles, the jury pool often leans towards a diverse group of working-class minorities, according to Lovell, which could potentially benefit Roe’s case.
In a federal court, the available jury pool is larger, and I believe having a more diverse jury pool could benefit Garth in this particular case.
The legal expert suggested that federal judges might be more willing to throw out the case, and he also noted that they might be more likely to seal the filings, which could prevent any embarrassing details about the singer’s alleged interactions with his accuser from being seen by the public.
Previously, Brooks had been quite angry when Roe’s lawyers revealed his name. Consequently, he decided to resubmit his original claim from last month, this time including Roe’s full name in the document.
In response to the accusations against him, the artist secretly initiated a lawsuit as an countermeasure in a federal court in Mississippi in September. However, his accuser later filed her lawsuit in California on October 3.
According to his statement, the legal action was initiated following a demand from Roe’s lawyer.
In her court case, an unnamed woman claimed that Brooks created a work environment with inappropriate sexual overtones before the alleged assault in 2019.
In 2019, she asserted that he exploited her financial hardships by asking for sexual favors.
On a specific instance, Roe claimed that Brooks appeared before her, having just exited a shower, in a state of undress and with an apparent erection. She alleged that he compelled her to touch him, boasting about his fantasy surrounding the incident and demanding she perform a sexual act on him.
In a filing from early October, she included screenshots of a sexually explicit text message conversation that she allegedly carried on with Brooks.
She asserted that matters took a turn for the worse in May 2019, when he proposed she accompany him to Los Angeles for a Grammy Awards homage to Sam Moore. She stated that he reserved a one-bedroom hotel suite and declined to offer her a separate room.
During their journey together, she claimed that Brooks had violently sexually assaulted her. Later, she alleged that he sent her suggestive text messages and encouraged her to reciprocate with explicit texts.
The woman additionally asserted that he bragged about having intimate relations with numerous women across every part of a hotel room, regardless of their race – white, black, or brown. He made this claim about every available surface.
According to the lawsuit, she asserted that Brooks frequently discussed the possibility of a three-way involving Yearwood and Roe, and it’s alleged that he repeatedly exposed himself to her and inappropriately touched her body, including her breasts, on numerous occasions.
Remarkably, Roe claimed Yearwood caught wind of his proposal for a threesome at least once on some occasions, and she mentioned that his wife was there during an explicit discussion where Brooks suggested creating a shampoo bottle that could function as a vibrator.
In simpler terms, Roe stated that the discussion left her feeling uneasy to the point of not participating, which triggered Brooks to such an extent that he reportedly banged his fists forcefully on the kitchen counter out of frustration, causing objects to shift, and then spoke menacingly towards Ms. Roe.
Roe’s lawyers claimed that Brooks falsely suggested they were discussing a potential settlement, when in reality, he was using her allegations of sexual assault to initiate a lawsuit ahead of time.
As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but share some intriguing details from the recent legal tussle involving our beloved country star. Apparently, he alleges that the hardships in Roe’s finances emerged post their move to Mississippi, presumably adding another layer of drama to their story.
He claimed she requested monetary aid from him, which he asserted he offered, but Brooks stated that the woman’s requests for financial support continued to escalate, eventually leading the defendant to ask the plaintiff for a regular salary and healthcare benefits.
Brooks denied the accusations, stating that they were baseless and unfounded, referring to alleged incidents of sexual misconduct supposedly happening in the past.
On July 17th, an attorney representing Roe filed a lawsuit claiming that a demand letter was sent to Brooks accusing him of various forms of sexual misconduct. The allegations span from inappropriate “grooming,” creating a sexually hostile work environment, unwanted physical advances of a sexual nature, and instances of sexual assault.
In his court case, Brooks asserted that Roe had accused him of intending to hire someone for the purpose of killing her. However, this accusation was not mentioned in Roe’s original lawsuit.
In my expertise, I must clarify that I was taken aback when I received the demand letter, as it contained allegations I hadn’t encountered before. The letter hinted at the prospect of publicly filing a civil lawsuit, and interestingly, it attached a draft of this proposed complaint. However, the surprising part was their ultimatum: they wanted me to agree to pay… a substantial amount of money in millions, if I recall correctly.
His lawsuit stated that the letter discussed numerous lawsuits involving celebrities over allegations of sexual misconduct, which resulted in massive financial awards by juries.
In the subsequent correspondence sent on August 23, 2024, Brook’s letter states that Roe proposed to stop pursuing her malicious and libelous lawsuit in public, under the condition of receiving a substantial monetary compensation.
I was informed that she made a warning: “If Brooks didn’t fulfill this requirement, it could lead to the disclosure of substantial amounts of money – roughly equivalent to his net worth.
Known as the top solo artist ever by the Recording Industry Association of America, this country music sensation has sold close to 150 million albums. With an estimated net worth ranging from $300 million to $350 million, he is best recognized for his hit song “Friends in Low Places.
At certain points, he held the title of the highest-earning celebrity globally. From June 2017 to June 2018, his income amounted to $45 million. However, during the same period in 2019, a year when accusations of rape against him surfaced (as Roe claims), his earnings were $25 million.
Together, country music power couple Brooks and Trisha Yearwood boast an estimated net worth of approximately $400 million, each contributing their own wealth to this impressive sum. The pair, who have been married for 21 years, own properties in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Nashville, Tennessee, and Malibu, California.
On October 3, Brooks finally spoke up, just hours after strongly refuting the accusations of rape and battery made by a makeup artist he’s known for over two decades through a legal statement.
After performing at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Brooks posted on Instagram expressing gratitude to his fans, saying he truly felt it was necessary.
In a heartfelt post, I shared a picture of the massive crowd that came out to support me tonight. This evening, more than any other, I felt their encouragement. I can’t thank them enough for being part of my journey. Here’s to life, love, and all its beautiful moments – Yours gratefully, G.
