MechWarrior 5: Clans 'Trials of War' DLC Out Now With New Omnimech Variants and 5-Player Horde Mode

As a dedicated MechWarrior 5: Clans veteran with countless hours spent traversing the battlefields of the Inner Sphere, I can confidently say that Piranha Games has once again delivered an exhilarating update to this already exceptional game. The Trials of War DLC and free update have breathed new life into my BattleMech experience, providing fresh challenges and exciting additions for me and fellow Clanners.

Developer Piranha Games has unveiled a fresh expansion pack titled ‘Trials of War’ along with an update for MechWarrior 5: Clans. This latest content drop introduces new types of Omnimech variants, as well as novel game modes, while the update brings eight Omnimechs into play and the challenging ‘Trueborn’ difficulty level.

The War DLC’s paid Trial version introduces a cooperative PvE Horde Mode for as many as five players, or even AI teammates, along with it. Additionally, you can unlock Challenge Levels, ten new Arena Mode maps, a Melee Mode, Last Mech Standing mode, and the following Omnimech variants:

  • ADR-CN “Cinder”
  • KFX-PR “Purifier”
  • MLX-ED “Ebon Dragoon”
  • NVA-BK “Breaker”
  • SHC-MI “Mishipeshu”
  • SCR-LC “Lacerator”
  • HBR-VI “Virago”
  • MDD-RV “Revenant”
  • SMN-PD “Pride”
  • DWF-WM “Widowmaker”
  • EXE-SV “Sovereign”
  • WHK-NQ “Nanuq”

Regarding the free upgrade, the Trueborn Difficulty level is touted as “the ultimate challenge.” It introduces eight Omnimechs, distributed across four weight classes. These include the light Arctic Cheetah: ACH-P and Kit Fox: KFX-P; medium Shadow Cat: SHC-P and Viper: VPR-P; heavy Hellbringer: HBR-P and Mad Dog: MDD-S; and the assault class Gargoyle: GAR-P and Dire Wolf: DWF-P. Moreover, this update brings numerous enhancements to gameplay for a smoother experience.

Currently, you have an opportunity to buy the Trials of War expansion pack for the game MechWarrior 5: Clans. It retails at $19.99 USD or £16.74 GBP. A free update is available as well, and you can find the patch notes for it here. Additionally, this DLC allows a full team of five players to enjoy it, provided that the hosting player has purchased it.
