League of Legends in 2025: New Battle Passes and Rewards
As someone who has been playing League of Legends for over a decade now, I must say that Riot Games has always managed to keep things fresh and exciting with their frequent updates and changes. The upcoming changes they’ve announced for 2025 look particularly promising.
In the 2025 League of Legends season, you can expect numerous changes to both the battle pass and reward systems that are familiar to us currently.
Despite League of Legends players frequently joking about disliking the game, they always line up for a match. Now, Riot Games is introducing motivation: increased rewards. Let’s explore what they may have in store. The following examples are just possibilities, as we haven’t yet learned about the specifics of the next battle pass.
New League of Legends Battle Pass
2025 marks a shift in League of Legends, where seasons will be themed. Kicking off with Noxus, expect a Noxus-themed pass and interface updates. Riot Games aims to simplify the reward system, which has been overly complex with multiple currencies and redundant steps. The upcoming Battle Pass for League of Legends is designed to offer a more engaging experience, deeper lore understanding, and fun gameplay.
A pass will remain active at all times – specifically, it’ll stay up for four patches, giving you extra time to gather your rewards. This pass will serve as the main source for tracking and acquiring rewards, all within a single region, so you won’t have to scour every corner. The updated Battle Pass in League of Legends offers a free version that provides numerous rewards, such as a Seasonal skin. Those who opt for the paid version can enjoy additional perks.
As you continue to enjoy playing, your battle pass will help you accumulate experience in the same way it does now. However, the method of gaining experience is set to change. In the coming year, we’ll introduce daily, weekly, act-long, events, and mastery missions to offer more variety. Since there will be a larger selection of missions, you can expect fewer “deal 10k damage” tasks and more “play with x champion”, tailored to each season’s theme. This adjustment aims to make your gaming experience more engaging within the League of Legends universe, providing rewards for those who may not play every day.
League of Legends Pass Rewards
In the updated League of Legends battle pass, the need for the Event Shop and Tokens has been eliminated as all rewards can now be unlocked directly within the pass. Although additional rewards are available, the cost of the pass will not increase – at least, for the time being.
- 1650 RP – Battle Pass
- 2650 RP – Battle Pass, 10 Pass Levels, Champion receiving the Prestige, Prestige Emote
- 3650 RP – All of the above, 25 Mythic Essence, Prestige Chroma
Similar to standard versions, you’ll find 50 levels, along with those that can be repeated. There are numerous rewards up for grabs, such as skins, titles, badges, emoticons, icons, orbs, banners, and many other exciting items.
Free Battle Pass
Regardless of your financial investment, everyone playing this game can anticipate receiving a complimentary “battle pass” annually. As stated by Riot Games, it is possible to obtain approximately nine different skins each year without spending a single dollar, with three Victorious skins awarded at the end of every seasonal split. The goal for next year is to provide you with no less than 12 (and up to 15 including Victorious skins), but we’ll start by making incremental progress.
You can only get those skin fragments by buying or earning Hextech Chests and Event Loot. The skins you currently possess won’t disappear; they’ll stay in your inventory. By simply playing, you can receive two free skins per Act. Reaching level 20 will grant you a unique, seasonal-themed skin that can’t be changed. Additionally, reaching level 45 offers the chance to win a random skin worth 975RP or less.
Here’s the full list of rewards for the free League of Legends Battle Pass:
- One thematic Earnable Skin Permanent
- One random 975 RP or lower Skin
- One Title
- Two Emotes
- Two Mystery Emotes
- Three Icons
- Two Mystery Icons
- Four Champion Capsules
- 4750 Blue Essence (plus infinite repeating levels at the end of the track
As a gamer, if I happen to miss completing certain game levels due to unforeseen circumstances, I can always buy the remaining ones. This feature is similar to the Battle Pass, ensuring that any progress made on the paid track during the season will be saved, even if I purchase it later. So, no need to fret!
League of Legends Paid Battle Pass
For individuals opting to invest in this game, they’ll encounter enhanced rewards. Among these premium perks is the Seasonal Prestige skin. Furthermore, numerous other rewards are up for grabs, including additional skins, Ancient Sparks of the Sanctum, banners, and many more.
- Everything from the Free Pass
- Three Ancient Sparks
- One Prestige Skin
- Three Reward Skins
- Three Borders
- Seven Loot Orbs
- One Banner
- One Ward Skin
- Two Emotes
- Two Icons
- 1000 Orange Essence (Plus an infinitely repeatable 25 OE every 5 levels after 50
The end of honor and the honor system
In 2025, we can expect changes to the honor system in League. From then on, your honor level will be linked to your rewards within the game. A good honor level will result in additional experience for passing levels quickly and benefits such as access to chat features during the game and post-game, along with new pings, emotes, and an increase in the number of pings you can send per minute.
Maintaining proper conduct during games and respecting the gaming environment is crucial, as any misbehavior or disregard for the rules could lower your honor standing permanently. This honor score reflects your overall game behavior. As a result, features like the Honor Shop and Honor Tokens will no longer be available.
By the close of this year, we’re planning to roll out a special recognition titled “Three Honors Shen,” which will become available to every player reaching Honor level 5 without any additional requirements.
At the start of the new update, Riot is introducing all Honor badge skins into the Honor Store, so if you still have some Honor Tokens remaining, now’s your chance to use them. Later on in Season One, the store will be shut down and any unspent Honor Tokens will be transformed into 2000 Blue Essence (BE) each. Once the Honor Store is closed, achieving Honor level 5 in the future will grant you a one-time unlock of the existing Honor skins.
Prestige Skins: more unique than ever
By 2025, the Prestige skins will be truly exceptional. Currently, they often come with a standard version. However, starting from 2025, this practice will cease. The upcoming Prestige skins will be one-of-a-kind, making them more “exclusive”, which in turn promises higher quality designs.
No more Masterwork Chests
In time, as there are numerous rewards available, the masterwork chests might lose their significance within the game. Consequently, Riot Games may decide to eliminate these chests entirely. This process will be split into two stages:
- Phase One: Masterwork Chests will no longer be sold in the Store starting in patch 25.S1.1 on January 6, 2025. At this time, we also will be moving away from using them as rewards in other systems such as Battle Passes and Ranked Rewards.
- Phase Two: The Masterwork Milestone track will be deactivated at the end of Season 1 Act 1 in patch 25.S1.5 on March 5, 2025. When they’re deactivated, all earned rewards on the track will be auto-claimed as well. Please note that you only progress the track by opening Masterwork chests, so any unopened chests will not count towards your progress.
Following stage two, the Masterwork Chests in your stockpile will stay sealed. However, you’ll be able to purchase Hextech keys to unlock other chests at a later time since standard Hextech Chests will continue to be available as the most affordable method for acquiring skins.
Champion Mastery Rewards
Riot Games acknowledged that some players have felt detached from the League Champ Mystery. To enhance the ARAM playing experience in 2025, they plan to integrate Champion Mastery into the Battle Pass. This change aims to strengthen the Battle Pass as a primary rewards system, boost progression through mastery itself, and make improvements to the ARAM gameplay. Players will continue to earn Mastery levels and points, but the Champion Mastery mission will now appear in their objective panel. This active mission, similar to a daily task, will be accompanied by additional missions for completing various sets of Mastery, rewarding significant amounts of pass experience.
Event, Showcase, and Mythic Variant Capsules
2025 finds me excitedly anticipating the shift by Riot, where they’ll relocate the Mythic Variantes into The Sanctum as a tiered reward for Ancient Sparks roll-ups. These Mythic Variants will boast a built-in luck buffer, ensuring a minimum of 40 attempts to keep even the unluckiest players engaged!
As a dedicated enthusiast, I’m excited to share that some changes are coming! In the latest design, less-favored Capsules, including Showcase Capsules, will no longer be featured. Instead, you’ll find the vibrant Event Orbs, or simply Capsules, taking center stage in the new model.
Sure thing! I have quite a few updates for you, but don’t fret – the coming year looks set to bring some fascinating and unique experiences that Riot hasn’t provided before. So, are you ready to get pumped up?
