Silo season 2 episode 2 recap: Order

Silo season 2 episode 2 recap: Order

As a seasoned gamer and binge-watcher with a knack for unraveling complex narratives, I must say that the latest episode of Silo has left me on the edge of my seat. The chaos unfolding within Juliette’s silo is reminiscent of a high-stakes game of Risk, where every move counts and the stakes are life or death.

In the second season debut of “Silo”, it was disclosed that Juliette not only made it alive beyond the silo but also stumbled upon another silo, tragically where most inhabitants perished. A flashback shows us that the silo uprised against an unknown entity, convinced that the outside world was safe.

However, as Juliette ventures into the other silo and discovers a solitary survivor, we delve into the events unfolding back at her own silo in Silo season 2 episode 2 titled “Order,” streaming now on Apple TV+.

Silo season 2 episode 2 recap: Order

Damage control

As predicted, Juliette’s silo is in disarray. The footage from her helmet, offering glimpses not only of what Juliette experiences but also of the silo itself, continued recording during her encounter with the sea of deceased individuals and the new silo. It remains unclear when the video stopped running. Consequently, Bernard from IT, who is essentially the architect of the silo, is scrambling to find the necessary procedures in the guidebook for handling a crisis like this.

During this time, Sims activates an alarm, further fueling the escalating confusion. To restore order, Bernard instructs that those linked to Juliette be monitored closely and proposes a compulsory city-wide curfew.

It seems that the majority of individuals who collaborated with Juliette at the lower levels are on the brink of a large-scale uprising. Their sighting of Juliette crossing the hill and their belief in her survival has sparked a desire for transparency among them.

In this scenario, the walker manages to pacify the escalating crowd, yet there’s a sense that unrest is about to erupt. This situation is exactly what Bernard wishes to avoid, prompting him to request a meeting with Mary Meadows, who holds the position of Judicial head.

Mary, on the contrast, clashes with Bernard, as it turns out they once had a close relationship where Mary followed in Bernard’s footsteps. However, Sims now seems more deserving of that role, but Bernard is reluctant to pass it on, finding Sims indispensable in his present position. Yet, this wasn’t the solution Sims was hoping for. Bernard’s behavior towards Sims stems from a problem, as we discover Meadows has been struggling with alcohol abuse since she took over as Bernard’s assistant.

Is he trying to prevent the same fate for Sims?

What now?

It was determined that Bernard would give a speech at the silo, marking the first instance where a different material was used for the suits’ fabrication. This decision indirectly led to Juliette’s survival.

The deception holds for a while, giving Bernard a brief respite, but eventually, curiosity about the outer world and Juliette’s whereabouts will grow among them. It won’t be long before they all start wanting to venture outside as well.

Because of this deception, both Walker and the woman who supplied the crucial tape, responsible for saving Juliette’s life, have been released from prison. Yet, the question remains: For how long until the populace rises in revolt?

Silo season 2 episode 2 review: Suspense, politics, and the cusp of a rebellion

Intrigued about who the man is in the other silo, I’m content that Silo season 2 episode 2 chose to revisit Juliette’s silo. The second episode certainly lived up to the consequences of her choices.

The outcome not just leaves Bernard grappling with the consequences, but it might also signal the emergence of a narrative arc for the Sims character. Just wanted to note that I believe the acting talent in this production is often underestimated, particularly from Common as the Sims character.

As a gamer, it seems pretty clear that my character (Sims) won’t stay loyal forever if Bernard keeps hiding secrets and denying me the role I’ve always wanted. The mystery surrounding his actions is becoming tiresome, and I can feel the simmering frustration growing.

Despite the inevitable occurrence of an uprising, it’s captivating to witness Bernard’s authority crumbling, all thanks to one woman. She has unwittingly altered everything for the community and its survivors. My concern is that her own silo may suffer a fate similar to the one she is now investigating.
