Adele reveals the real reason she took on her Las Vegas residency - as the singer admits she's not sure when she will perform again

I can only imagine what it must be like to stand on that stage in Caesar’s Palace, knowing that you’ve poured four years of your heart and soul into making this residency a reality. Adele has faced challenges, from personal struggles to global pandemics, yet she never wavered. Her strength, resilience, and unwavering love for her craft are truly inspiring.

Adele openly disclosed the genuine motivation behind accepting her Las Vegas residency, since she expressed uncertainty about when she might perform next.

On Saturday, the singer, who was 36 years old, expressed her emotions one last time on stage at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, marking the end of her two-year residency.

In her final show, she not only shared details about future plans but also revealed to the audience the reasons behind accepting the residency initially.

Speaking to her 12-year-old son Angelo, she said with enthusiasm: ‘Perhaps the reason I took up a residency instead was that I found touring rather tiresome.’ (According to People)

She mentioned: “However, I decided to take up a residency to maintain his routine as usual, and indeed, I succeeded in that. Yet, if given a choice, I wouldn’t alter it for anything, but now I get to spend weekends with him, since of course he can’t be there all the time.

‘So I love you to bits. … Thank you for being patient for me.’

The singer graciously acknowledged her fiancé, Rich Paul, for consistently boosting her confidence and making her believe she could achieve anything she set her mind to.

She has shared that there have been moments when she feels incredibly weary or emotionally spent, and she values his backing during those times.

After delivering her speech, she moved among the crowd, hugging Rich (age 43), who she publicly confirmed her engagement to in August, as well as Angelo, a son she shares with her former husband Simon Konecki (age 50).

During pauses to sip wine and touch-ups on her makeup, the singer known for “Set Fire To The Rain” openly admitted that she was unsure of how to spend her time now that her stay in Las Vegas had come to an end.

As reported by The Sun, she openly stated to the gathered crowd that she currently lacked any specific arrangements, expressing simply: “I’ve got nothing else planned.

‘I’m actually sing myself about what I’m going to do. I don’t have any f***ing plans.

She added: ‘I guess I’ll just day-drink.’

Adele clarified the rumors about her retirement, stating that she was uncertain about the timing of her next album release or upcoming tours.

She shared with her followers, “I’m not quite sure when I’ll perform again on stage next. It’s now about moving forward. It’s about starting a new chapter and embarking on a new phase in my life.

After concluding her act, Adele reminisced about the beginning of her run in Sin City as “incredibly challenging,” and labeled the year 2022, during which she had to cancel shows less than a day before they began, as the “toughest year of her life.

At the last minute, the entire 24-show residency was canceled due to allegations that half her crew had contracted Covid, leaving them insufficient time to prepare the performance.

On Saturday evening, Adele drank a glass of wine on stage before addressing her massive crowd of 5,000 fans, as captured in a shared clip from X. She expressed, “I’m genuinely sad this residency has ended, but I couldn’t be happier that it took place. I really mean it.

The beginning was extremely rough, making it one of the most challenging years I’ve experienced. I was met with constant setbacks, which were truly awful. I was warned that this decision could potentially harm my career and Las Vegas might not forget so easily about the sudden cancellation.

With a catch in her voice, she went on to say, “Earlier, we were all together as a group. It was then that I began to cry. If I hadn’t gone on that canceled show, I wouldn’t be here today, performing my 100th show.

In my view, when something seems off or unsettling to you, regardless of the situation at hand, always trust your intuition. If a situation doesn’t sit well with you, refrain from engaging in it.

Overflowing with joy and swelling with pride, I can hardly contain myself! I’m incredibly proud – not just of me, but of my amazing team, the incredible band, and the supportive fans who have stuck by me. I owe a debt of gratitude to Vegas for providing that precious second chance that has allowed me to continue living my dream.

In the year 2022, individuals from various parts of the globe, such as the United Kingdom, made their way to Las Vegas. They had purchased tickets priced between $85 and $12,000 for the initial performance, or even up to $30,000 on the black market, prior to the event.

However, with only 24 hours left, the renowned British artist decided to call off her entire 24-night show schedule, which was expected to generate $685,000 (£500,000) per performance in Las Vegas, breaking previous earning records when including merchandise sales.

The show titled “Weekends With Adele” was scheduled to run until April in Las Vegas, with all the tickets already sold. However, in an emotional Instagram post, Adele expressed her apologies as she announced that the show isn’t yet ready due to running out of time for preparation.

Despite our best efforts to complete the project on time and meet your expectations, we’ve encountered unforeseen challenges due to delivery delays and the impact of COVID-19. Regrettably, more than half of my team has fallen ill with COVID-19, which has made it nearly impossible for us to finalize the show as planned. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

She went on, expressing her disappointment: “I’m devastated – I apologize for the late notice, we’ve been working tirelessly for over 30 hours trying to resolve the issue and unfortunately ran out of time.” As her voice quivered, she added, “I’m deeply sorry and embarrassed, and I want to express my apologies to everyone who traveled to attend [the show]. I truly regret the inconvenience caused.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I must say, I share the enthusiasm of Adele’s fans, wishing her the best for her highly anticipated debut. However, I find myself pondering, much like many others, why it was on the very brink of her performance that she and her team reached this particular decision.

Announcements for Adele’s “Weekends With Adele” residency were made in November 2021, but the lead-up to it wasn’t without its bumps.

Adele and her ex-husband split up in 2019 and she found her life under the spotlight once again.

She expressed discomfort in a CBS interview, stating that she hasn’t fully come to terms with the decision to disrupt her child’s life for her own benefit.

Prior to her last performance, Adele disclosed that she was drained, both emotionally and physically, after a grueling two-year run of concerts.

Following a highly profitable and triumphant series of performances, along with a 10-night stint at a custom-made stadium in Munich, Adele is now prepared to retire her microphone due to the exhaustion she feels from performing so many concerts, describing herself as ‘tired and worn out’.

In a recent interview prior to her final performance this weekend, the artist who created “Hello” shared that she’s preparing to take an extended break from her fans. Adele is eagerly anticipating some well-deserved rest in bed and a chance to enjoy a glass (or more) of wine, as she has been avoiding it due to its effect on her vocal cords.

At one of her recent concerts in Sin City, Adele addressed the audience, which included The Mirror, saying: “Performing four hours every weekend of entirely live singing is quite demanding. I’m a chatty person, and I’m incredibly sensitive and emotional. After these shows, I’m drained. And I deeply connect with each one of you in this room, taking all of you into my heart, bringing you home with me.

Emphasizing even more the strain her remarkable shows have had on her, Adele humorously compared herself to the “pigeon woman” from Home Alone, jokingly stating that she presents a disheveled or unkempt look as she often doesn’t return home until the wee hours after her weekend performances.

On Fridays and Saturdays, this renowned performer graces the stage, but come Sundays to Thursdays, she’s focused on full recuperation. Despite her affection for these performances, she’s now eager for them to conclude.

Speaking about the culmination of her long-awaited run in Las Vegas, Adele expressed: “This means a lot to me because it’s both incredibly joyful and tinged with sadness. However, I’ve been thinking about this residency for four years…four years devoted to a single concept.

I’m eagerly anticipating having plenty of free time to shower affection on my children, partner, and another child. Additionally, I’ll have the chance to care for my home as well.

According to the report, the singer of Hometown Glory stated that she feels compelled to return to her personal routine.

In conversation with the audience, Adele shared that her original intentions were straightforward – to savor a glass of red wine, a beverage she typically shied away from due to its tendency to affect her negatively by making her feel unwell, drying out her vocal cords, and causing severe hangovers.

She added: “On Saturday night, I’m likely to drink a lot of red wine. That’s the most thrilling plan once the show finishes! After that, I believe I’ll simply relax to my heart’s content until the end of the year. It feels like I’m already preparing for early hibernation.

After her residency concludes, the renowned star from Tottenham shared her future intentions, which include spending time in bed watching numerous TV shows. She mentioned that this tranquil moment often brings her a sense of comfort.

She could find the inspiration to make a New Year’s resolution, potentially dedicating more time to it seriously.
