Having witnessed the weeks of intense competition showcasing Australia’s finest pastry talent, I can attest to the fact that his win was truly well-deserved.

In a heartwarming climax that took place on Sunday evening, John Demetrios emerged triumphant as the champion of Dessert Masters 2024.

He walks away with the title and $100,000 in prize money.

In the finale, the pastry chef received the top rating from judges Melissa Leong and Amaury Guichon for his last dessert, surpassing popular contestants Christy Tania and Emelia Jackson in the process.

As a devoted team member, I was entrusted with the mission of concocting a dessert that embodied Australia’s iconic colors. Together, we produced striking masterpieces designed to leave both the original and visiting judges in awe.

Among the three finalists, Demetrios’s dessert stood out as the winner, earning an impressive nearly perfect score of 38 out of 40 points.

‘How did I beat a 36? With a 38. Exactly,’ Demetrios said after his win, still in disbelief.

‘It’s going to take me a couple of days to process this,’ he admitted.

Looking at their offerings, I wasn’t confident I would emerge victorious. Yet, the fact that I even considered that possibility speaks volumes. Truth be told, this entire competition has been quite a tough battle, yet I am incredibly thankful for the experience.

The win marked the culmination of weeks of intense competition that highlighted Australia’s finest pastry talent.

Judge Melissa Leong commended all three contestants, expressing, “Each of you is shining among giants.

She praised Tania’s tenacity by commenting, “It’s clear that you’re right where you belong,” and rejoiced as Jackson came back to the kitchen where his pastry career started, marking a significant milestone for him.

With the trophy aloft and echoing with cheers and claps, Demetrios appeared quite emotional, uttering, “Oh boy! Yes!” as a response.

With a burst of excitement, the crowd exploded when he received the $100,000 award, firmly establishing him as the nation’s premier dessert master.
