Why I believe Rebekah Vardy uses disgusting, bullying language about other women – and the truly unforgivable thing she wrote about ME
As a seasoned journalist with a knack for uncovering the juiciest stories, I’ve had my fair share of encounters with colorful characters. But none quite compare to the fiery and fabulous Rebekah Vardy! This woman is not just a Premier League WAG, she’s a force to be reckoned with, a modern-day Scarlett O’Hara with a pen instead of a feather duster.
Over the past twenty years, working as a showbusiness journalist, I’ve encountered countless harsh words from disgruntled, sharp-tongued celebrities and their representatives. It takes a lot to shock me these days. However, I was taken aback when Rebekah Vardy, one half of the ‘Wagatha Christie’ drama and footballer’s wife, launched a dirty verbal attack against me.
In her Instagram post, she angrily advised, ‘Continue focusing on undermining your superiors to climb the career ladder,’ but it seems you didn’t excel at that either.
Endearing, yet unfortunate given its historical use to belittle accomplished women. Interestingly ironic considering your past actions, such as giving a candid interview in 2004 where you compared the male anatomy of singer Peter Andre to a ‘little sausage’ (like chipolata).
It’s not surprising that Rebekah has been seen venting her criticism in a recent newspaper article, given her role as a columnist for a tabloid. At 42 and mother to six children, she seems to be using this platform to air her criticisms primarily aimed at Coleen Rooney, who is currently captivating the eight million viewers of I’m A Celebrity… with her performance.
In 2019, a well-known dispute between Coleen and Rebekah started after Coleen publicly accused Rebekah on social media of sharing private stories with the press. Rebekah then took legal action against Coleen for defamation but ultimately failed. The judge, Mrs Justice Steyn, found many of Rebekah’s statements to be unconvincing or questionable in court.
Gladly, my conversation with Rebekah didn’t escalate to a court case. Back in August, I shared that Rebekah and Lauryn Goodman, previously involved with England footballer Kyle Walker, had developed a close bond. Given their openness about their friendship, it wasn’t surprising when I reported that Rebekah was offering advice to Lauryn, following her public disclosure that Kyle was the father of both her children.
However, as soon as the article went live that very morning, Rebekah shared her offensive comment on her Instagram Stories, a platform where messages automatically disappear within 24 hours.
In her message, she stated, ‘Katie Hind, it seems you’ve chosen the incorrect individual today.’ She expressed frustration over what she perceives as your excessive reliance on clickbait, lack of logical journalistic approach, and outright fabrications in your work.’ However, she maintains that everything she wrote is accurate.
After the harmful comment about my professional life, there was: ‘There are certainly many more informative articles to write, but that requires intelligence, doesn’t it.’
Nasty words indeed, but Rebekah has plenty more in her barrel as I’m A Celeb fans are finding out.
In an interview discussing her new position, Rebekah (who was also a contestant on I’m A Celebrity… in 2017) didn’t hesitate to criticize Coleen. When asked if there was anything she’d like Coleen to experience, Rebekah said: “Well, either an apology or humility.” Following this, when asked if a camel testicle would be the most disgusting thing Coleen has ever tasted, Rebekah replied: “I’m not sure. You might need to ask Coleen’s husband for that information.
Additionally, she passionately claimed that Coleen envied her and aspired to be like her. In her fury, she lashed out at her competitor: “If you’re trying to fan the embers, the fire will only grow stronger. I had no intention of discussing this any further, but evidently, she can’t let it rest. We’ve published a book, produced a documentary, and are venturing into the jungle. What’s next? Perhaps Dancing on Ice? She’s mimicking my path. In my opinion, she has always yearned for my life.
Later, in her initial article, Rebekah labeled Coleen as a continuous present for having her canoe overturn during the celebrity competition en route to the camp.
In my line of work, I’ve noticed that many in the industry have experienced her sharp wit. Regarding radio host Dean McCullough, I must admit he left me drained. He was as energetic as a child on Christmas morning.
Ant and Dec, the presenters who’ve made light of the Wagatha Christie case, were criticized for displaying narrow-mindedness instead.
Could it be that Rebekah’s tenacity in criticizing others stems from financial concerns? It’s been mentioned that her newspaper agreement is approximately £30,000, yet it pales in comparison to the £1.6 million she owes Coleen’s legal team following their Wagatha Christie dispute loss?
One friend suggested that maybe she saw an opportunity to earn some extra income from Coleen, as if it were pocket money. However, they, along with Jamie, a Premier League footballer who makes £150,000 per week from Leicester City, maintain that their financial situation is sound and secure.
If it’s not about money, then it must be about attention. It seems to me that Rebekah is addicted to the limelight. She initiated the libel trial, a highly public event, fully aware that she would be exposed as the mole. In her world, any publicity, good or bad, keeps her in the spotlight. Let me assure you, I’ve witnessed it firsthand.
She finished off her rant about me by saying I was ‘first in line, begging like a child for an interview… well, no more.’
Indeed, she had a valid argument. Back in 2017, I didn’t exactly plead but asked for an interview from her, and to my surprise, she seemed eager, even insisting on a £5,000 fee and inviting me to her home in Lincolnshire. Upon arrival, I noticed a line of Range Rovers parked outside, then met Caroline Watt, her agent at the time. Before the trial, it was said that she had misplaced her phone in the North Sea, which reportedly contained some messages that could have been incriminating.
Caroline advised me that her client could be somewhat unapproachable during our interview. Additionally, I was instructed to take off my footwear.
Upon encountering Rebekah, I offered a friendly grin, yet her reaction was as cold as an icy day. There wasn’t even a polite greeting. Instead, she scrutinized me and promptly instructed me to engage with her daughter Sofia, who was about two years old, until she was prepared.
Upon finding a comfortable seat, I couldn’t help but delve into the topic of my beloved vegetable patch, an unexpected yet passionate subject. It seemed that Rebekah was eager to project an image of a humble, domestic spouse with strong family values – a ‘regular person nurturing her kin’, in her own words – rather than simply another high-profile partner often labeled as a ‘diva’.
Option 1: Before my departure, I was instructed to brew tea for everyone. Swearing off that house forever, I declined a second interview with Rebekah and have no intention of doing so in the future. As for you, Colleen, brace yourself! This turbulent journey is far from finished.
