Asian Esports Games (AEG) 2024: Teams, Format, prize pool, and more

As a seasoned esports enthusiast with years of gaming under my belt and countless tournaments watched, I can confidently say that the Asian Esports Games (AEG) 2024 is shaping up to be an unmissable event! The inclusion of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang in the Women’s category marks a significant stride for gender equality in esports, something we’ve been eagerly waiting for.

2024 will mark the beginning of the Asian Esports Games (AEG), taking place on November 25th. The event will showcase MOONTON’s famous Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, as well as two additional titles: Arena of Valor and eFootball. These games will each launch their individual events at the Indoor Stadium Hua Mak in Bangkok, Thailand.

In this event, Mobile Legends is set to be the exclusive game contested in the Women’s division, indicating a substantial growth spurt for esports. Meanwhile, the other two games will cater to players participating in the Open Category.

Asian Esports Games (AEG) 2024: Schedule and Format

The upcoming event is being coordinated through a collaborative effort between the Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) and the Thailand Esports Federation (TESF), with MOONTON also contributing to its organization. The AEG 2024 Mobile Legends tournament will commence on November 25, 2024, and conclude on November 27, 2024.

Starting from November 28th, the Arena of Valor event will run until the 29th. Each game will have a distinct format: Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB) will involve 20 teams, while Arena of Valor will host 9. Here’s how the formats for each title break down:

Mobile Legends

In this tournament, there are going to be two main phases: the Group Stage and the Playoffs. During the first phase, all matches will be single elimination and played in a Best of One (BO1) format. Teams will be split into four groups containing five teams each. The top two teams from each group will move on to the next stage.

In the playoffs, we’ll have a setup where each team can lose twice before being eliminated, except for the Grand Final which is best-of-seven (BO7). The remaining matches will be best-of-three (BO3).

Arena of Valor

In this tournament, each match during the preliminary rounds (referred to as the Group stage) will consist of two games, and there will be three distinct groups. The top two teams from each group will progress to the Playoffs. Furthermore, the Playoffs will follow a double-elimination format, meaning that all matches in this bracket will consist of five games each.

eFootball

The event begins on November 30th, 2024, and concludes on December 1st, 2024. It commences with the Group Stage, followed by a Double Elimination phase, culminating in the Grand Finals.

There will be 23 teams, divided into 4 groups. The top 2 from each will advance to the next stage.
