Barry Keoghan addresses The Batman Part 2 return as Joker
As a seasoned gamer and avid fan of the Batman universe, I have to admit that Barry Keoghan‘s portrayal of the Joker in The Batman left quite an impression on me. His unique take on the character, with his disfigured appearance and twisted sense of humor, added a new layer of complexity to the Clown Prince of Crime that I hadn’t seen before.
Barry Keoghan hinted at the potential of reprising his role as the Joker for The Batman – Part II, but has yet to receive any confirmation on whether he’ll make a comeback.
In the 2022 superhero movie directed by Matt Reeves, the actor made an appearance. The Joker, portrayed as the Clown Prince of Crime, was seen briefly in one scene where he conversed with the villainous character The Riddler, who was played by Paul Dano.
As I eagerly await the upcoming sequel, I’ve found myself pondering whether my favorite on-screen villain, played by Keoghan, will return for another round. However, during a recent interview, the star hinted that he was yet to make a decision about reprising his role, despite expressing his excitement for the project.
He shared with the Happy Sad Confused podcast that if presented with a chance, absolutely, he would be eager to delve deeper into it. However, as of now, he hasn’t received any contact or messages regarding this opportunity.
While Keoghan remains tight-lipped about his role, Reeves, who is also a producer for The Penguin, shared exclusive insights with Digital Spy regarding Keoghan’s portrayal of the iconic character, labeling him as a “unique” performer.
According to Reeves, “Barry is an exceptional actor.” He’s exceptionally unique, as we frequently discussed during our conversations. One aspect that we delved into deeply was the concept that his perspective on life has been shaped by being disfigured since birth. It seemed like a particularly cruel twist of fate, added Reeves.
His entire outlook on life and the mischievous, unsettling laughter he emits stems from a joke that has been perpetuated against him throughout his life. This defines who he is, shaping his perspective of the world, thus offering us a window into understanding him better.
We’re approaching the topics similar to those in the Joker story, but with a unique perspective. We discussed various angles to explore during our scene work.
The Batman is available to buy now on 4K Blu-ray, standard Blu-ray and DVD.
