Keke Palmer reveals the advice Ice Cube gave her about men in Hollywood
As a seasoned lifestyle expert with decades of personal and professional experience under my belt, I can’t help but admire the wisdom that Keke Palmer has gleaned from her encounters in Hollywood. Her story about Ice Cube’s advice is a powerful reminder of the importance of self-awareness and protection, especially for young talents navigating the tumultuous waters of showbiz.
Keke Palmer remembered some enduring words of wisdom that Ice Cube shared with her during their collaboration on the 2008 film, The Longshots.
This week, on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, the 31-year-old actress described the 55-year-old rapper and actor as someone who doesn’t talk much.
She mentioned that he wasn’t overly talkative – quite the reserved individual. Yet, he was pleasant. And then came a day when someone said, “Ice Cube would like to chat with you.” To which she responded, “Sure…
The former child star said she was taken to a room where the NWA rapper was with bodyguards.
She recalled him saying, ‘I need to share something with you, Keke. Your beauty is undeniable, and your kindness towards everyone on set is evident. However, I feel compelled to tell you that how others perceive you at work – particularly men – may not align with how you view yourself.’
Palmer shared that Ice, whose real name is O’Shea Jackson, advised her to “guard yourself, exercise caution, and avoid letting others exploit you. Understand your identity and value, so no one can manipulate these aspects against you.
Later on, Keke shared that at age 14, she didn’t grasp the full meaning of what Ice Cube had said to her. However, she mentioned that his words left a lasting impression on her.
She added, ‘And it was so important, I think, for him to say something like that to me.
‘He’s a father. He’s someone who has seen a lot in this industry, especially with young entertainers. I always remember that, and I was always so grateful to him for that.’
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but reflect on the words of Keke Palmer, the podcast host, who shared, “Ever since then, I haven’t had the chance to meet him again, but if I ever do, I’d like to express how profoundly his words have resonated with me over the years and offer my heartfelt thanks for stirring such a lasting impression.
Palmer is actively sharing information about her recently published memoir titled “Master of Me: The Art of Managing Your Story,” which came out on November 19th.
In her written work, a woman described an instance where Ryan Murphy, a joint creator and producer of Scream Queens, was said to have criticized her for acting unprofessionally.
According to a recent publication, Palmer struggled during the television show that was broadcasted on Fox from 2015 to 2016 for two seasons.
She mentioned that she had arranged a ‘work commitment’ instead of taking a break from her filming activities on the day intended for relaxation.
Later, Palmer learned from the team behind the series that her shooting schedule had been adjusted, which originally was set for her day of rest.
She couldn’t make it for filming on that particular day due to a previous commitment, but it’s uncertain whether she informed the production team about it.
As a devoted follower, I must confess I felt disheartened by her absence, and I took the initiative to reach out and express my concerns, albeit quite forcefully, regarding the recent incident.
‘It was kind of like I was in the deans office,’ she explained while speaking with the LA Times.
He said, “I’ve never expected you to act this way before. It’s hard for me to accept that it’s you who has done something so unexpected.
