This new horror anime of 2024 is one of Netflix’s most popular shows at the moment

Recently, Netflix introduced their new horror anime series titled Dandadan, which has been creating quite a buzz since its release in October. The debut episode became available on Netflix on October 3rd. In all, the initial season consists of twelve episodes, and each week a new one has been added to Netflix. Dandadan is a TV adaptation of Yukinobu Tatsu’s widely recognized Japanese manga, sharing the same title. This anime offers an eclectic mix of genres, incorporating elements of horror, action, humor, and the supernatural. The Japanese animation studio Science Saru, known for popular Netflix series like Devilman Crybaby and Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, is also responsible for producing this anime.
Momo, a teenager and ardent ghost aficionado, dismisses the existence of extraterrestrials. On the contrary, her classmate Okarun is an alien fanatic but scoffs at the idea of ghosts. Following a string of peculiar occurrences, they are compelled to join forces to confront the various terrifying entities from another realm that they unexpectedly encounter.

When high schooler Momo, from a family of spirit mediums, first meets her classmate Okarun, an occult geek, they argue—Momo believes in ghosts but denies aliens, and Okarun believes in aliens but denies ghosts. When it turns out both phenomena are real, Momo awakens a hidden power and Okarun gains the power of a curse. Together, they must challenge the paranormal forces threatening their world.
