Shock new TV role for Sunrise star Edwina Bartholomew – following her heartbreaking cancer diagnosis
As a dedicated follower, I admire Edwina Bartholomew‘s courage and resilience in the face of adversity. At 41, she has faced her fair share of challenges, yet she continues to inspire us with her strength and determination. Her recent revelation about her chronic myeloid leukaemia diagnosis is a testament to her spirit and her unwavering commitment to her health and well-being.
Edwina Bartholomew is preparing for a surprising change at Channel Seven, less than two months since she shared her devastating cancer news with the public.
41-year-old Sunrise journalist is reportedly planning to transition from her extended tenure on the Seven Morning Show to take up a position within the network’s Sydney newsroom.
According to reports from news.com.au, her move into the news department is contingent upon when Ann Sanders, a longtime newsreader who’s 64 years old, decides to retire.
The suggested change may benefit Edwina by allowing her to sleep in later, since she won’t need to rise at 4 am to prepare for work, given that she is coping with a manageable type of leukemia.
In September, Edwina revealed on-air she had been diagnosed with cancer in a tearful admission.
‘I have been diagnosed with cancer. That’s a shock and hard to say,’ she sadly told viewers.
‘This type of cancer, known as Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML), is quite beneficial. With daily medication, it can be effectively managed. If I prioritize self-care, I should make a full recovery.’
The seasoned television personality subsequently found himself choked up and shared with the crowd, “I tried to maintain my composure.
It was Natalie Barr, Edwina’s fellow cast member, who prompted her early diagnosis due to having experienced a similar health issue herself. In June, Natalie discovered she had skin cancer on her nose during a regular skin examination.
Worried about her personal well-being, Edwina made an appointment with her physician for a mammogram, blood work, and a skin examination – only to learn some distressing information afterwards.
‘I had a mammogram after I had a few lumps. That came back all clear. I even had an eye check.
‘That’s fine. But my doctor sent me to get routine blood tests at the same time,’ Edwina continued.
‘One of those tests came back with levels out of whack.
“I’m feeling quite fortunate, and I wanted to express this sentiment to you for a couple of reasons. To start with, everyone at home and here has been part of all these special moments – weddings, engagements, and the arrivals of new babies. We’ve all shared in these joyous occasions together.
‘It felt right to share…’ she said.
As someone who has faced circumstances akin to yours, I can assure you that I too shall emerge from this ordeal fortified and more resilient, just like many of you have done before.
Edwina mentioned another motive behind revealing her news was to inspire others to make their health a top priority too.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but emphasize this: Ladies who tirelessly nurture their loved ones, remember to nurture yourselves too! Don’t forget to consult your physician for a wellness check-up.
As a devoted admirer, I came to learn of her startling medical revelation in the month of July. To protect her privacy and peace of mind, she chose to conceal this news from the world, confiding solely in a select few colleagues who worked alongside her.
She expressed gratitude towards all her fellow actors for their backing, specifically acknowledging Natalie for consistently reaching out and supplying the meals.
“Edwina informed the audience that she plans to take a break in September, and she’ll also be scaling back her responsibilities at Sunrise.
As stated by Mayo Clinic, Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) is a relatively rare form of cancer that originates within the bone marrow and grows at a leisurely pace.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share some insights about potential health issues that might manifest in various ways. For instance, you may experience discomfort in your bones, feel unusually tired, develop a fever, lose weight unintentionally, notice blurriness in your vision, or lose interest in food – these are just a few examples.
Edwina shared that she experienced only a few of these symptoms, primarily feeling tiredness, which she attributed to waking up early each day for work.
Progress in medical care significantly enhances the outlook for individuals diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML), allowing most to attain remission and enjoy extended lifespans.
Molly, age four, and Thomas, age two, are the cherished offspring of the long-term television personality who’s married to Neil Varcoe for six years.
