Game developer GSC Game World unveiled “S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl” today, marking the culmination of a decade-long journey that began with its initial announcement in 2010. The game’s development has been influenced by various events such as the pandemic, studio relocations, a fire at their Prague office, and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

In “S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2,” I find myself stepping into the boots of Skif, a solitary stalker navigating the treacherous Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. This haunting landscape is the grim result of the nuclear catastrophe at the Chernobyl Power Plant in 1986, further ravaged by an explosion in 2006. The Zone teems with mutated beasts, radioactivity, and bizarre anomalies, making every step a test of survival.
