Alec Baldwin’s wife Hilaria under fire for braving deadly winter storm with kids to get hair cuts

Hilaria Baldwin faced criticism online after she took her children to get haircuts just as a major winter storm was approaching New York City.

Hilaria Baldwin, a 42-year-old former yoga instructor and wife of Alec Baldwin, posted on Instagram about a family trip to a Manhattan salon. She shared photos and videos of her children getting haircuts, explaining they ‘braved the snowstorm’ to do so.

In the images, Baldwin’s children are seen bundled up in winter gear inside the salon.

The first video featured Carmen, her oldest child at 12, sitting in a hair salon chair. Her long hair had just been brushed and flowed down her shoulders.

I spotted a really sweet photo – one of her younger brothers was wrapping his arms around his sister from behind, both of them looking down at a phone. It was just a lovely, protective moment, and really showed their close bond.

Pictures also revealed two-year-old Ilaria and four-year-old MarĂa bundled up in warm snowsuits, their faces rosy from the cold, as a stylist gave their brothers haircuts.

Baldwin playfully wrote in the caption that his baby daughter wanted a haircut because she thought her hair was ‘sooooo long
longer than Marilu’s!’ He included laughing emojis and the hashtags #thebaldiwins and #haircut.

Hilaria and Alec Baldwin have seven children: three daughters – Carmen Gabriela, MarĂa LucĂa Victoria, and Ilaria Catalina Irena – and four sons – Rafael Thomas (9), Leonardo Ángel Charles (8), Romeo Alejandro David (6), and Eduardo ‘Edu’ Pao Lucas (4).

Prior to meeting Hilaria, Alec welcomed his daughter Ireland Baldwin, 30, with Kim Basinger.

The Daily Mail has contacted Hilaria’s team for a response, but they haven’t received one yet.

As New York City braced for Winter Storm Fern, weather experts cautioned that the storm could make travel hazardous and bring a lot of snow to the area.

CBS News reported that some areas of the city could get as much as 18 inches of snow. The National Weather Service said Manhattan had a very high chance – 94 percent – of receiving at least six inches, and almost a 50/50 chance of getting close to a foot.

Weather forecasts indicated LaGuardia Airport was highly likely to experience significant snowfall or accumulation.

On Friday, New York Governor Kathy Hochul issued a state of emergency for all of New York, asking people to stay off the roads if possible. This came as weather experts predicted the storm could cause power outages, fallen trees, and dangerous road conditions.

Winter Storm Fern caused widespread flight cancellations as it traveled east. By Saturday, almost 3,700 flights had been canceled across the country, and officials anticipated over 6,000 more cancellations on Sunday.

Against that backdrop, Baldwin’s post drew mixed reactions.

Many people left comments praising her, calling her a wonderful mother and highlighting the close relationship she seems to have with her kids.

One person commented how wonderful the children are with each other, praising the parent for doing a ‘great job!’ Another supporter highlighted the girls’ kindness and called Carmen beautiful and sweet, also complimenting the parent.

However, many others strongly disagreed, wondering if going out during the storm was really necessary and criticizing Baldwin for revealing too much personal information.

Many people felt the trip to the salon wasn’t essential, pointing out that the children’s haircuts could have been postponed until it was safer.

Some people expressed concern about how often she shared pictures of her children on social media, suggesting she protect their privacy more.

The Baldwin family is reportedly staying mostly at their large penthouse apartment in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, but they also spend time at their 10,000-square-foot farmhouse in Amagansett, Long Island.

A massive storm was moving towards the Northeast, prompting millions of people in over 20 states to stay home and brace for dangerous, freezing weather.

The storm marks the biggest one to hit New York City in five years.

Public school buildings have been closed on Monday and classes were moved to be remote.
