New School Spirits season 2 clip gives fans an update on Janet's whereabouts

As a long-time fan who’s been following this ghostly rollercoaster ride since its inception, I can confidently say that the cliffhanger at the end of School Spirits season 1 left me on the edge of my seat! The revelation that Maddie might not be dead after all and Janet is still lurking around was enough to make any viewer’s heart skip a beat.

Major spoilers ahead of School Spirits season 1

Anticipation has been running high among us for the resumption of School Spirits, following the surprising climax where it was hinted that Maddie might not have perished as initially thought, and that Janet, who we believed had moved on, is instead occupying Maddie’s physical form.

As a gamer, I found myself in a bind when Season 1 concluded, with me – or rather, my character – discovering that Janet had swiped the cash Nicole had hidden away. The evidence, captured on camera, was more than enough for Simon to believe that the Maddie he’d been interacting with was nothing but a spectral echo of his profound sorrow over losing his best friend. Now, I’m left without any living companions, which is problematic because I urgently need someone across the veil to help me pull Janet back into town.

The season finale of the captivating TV show “School Spirits” ended on a nail-biting cliffhanger, and luckily, more episodes will be available on Paramount+ soon. Regrettably, an exact release date hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s expected to air in early 2025.

Currently, the streamer is keeping us entertained by sharing season 2 footage, including a fresh video clip (available on People).

In this particular scene, it seems like Maddie is conversing with Jenna, who works at a rest area. However, upon closer inspection, we’re actually witnessing an interaction between Janet and Jenna. This is evident because Maddie is not allowed to leave the premises of Split River High, making it impossible for her to ask about taxi services. Moreover, the very act of “Maddie” inquiring about a cab is what tips off Jenna that something is amiss.

Jenna is taken aback by her friend’s request, as well as her suggestion of hitchhiking. Given that Janet passed away in 1958, it’s understandable that she might ask for a taxi first, and if one isn’t available, opt for a roadside ride. Hitchhiking was common during her youth, but today it’s generally seen as very risky.

In simpler terms, Janet doesn’t understand what Uber or Lyft are, nor does she know how to arrange rides through these services. Although she might be familiar with smartphones due to her exposure to technological advancements, it’s unlikely she would think of using one while fleeing or even know how to obtain one. So, Janet getting a map to navigate Bingham County (which could be fictional) fits well with the situation.

Janet didn’t wait for change after handing Jenna a hundred dollar bill, likely due to panic when she saw a missing persons flyer for Maddie on the community wall. Right now, she’s disguising herself with a Wisconsin hat and a stolen jacket in the final moments of the scene, but she’s far from inconspicuous. This could help Maddie if she can make Simon think she’s been taken over by an alien or if someone reports her location based on the missing person flyers.
