Josh O’Connor lands next movie role in Steven Spielberg’s mystery sci-fi
As a die-hard fan who has lived and breathed cinema for as long as I can remember, I couldn’t be more thrilled about Josh O’Connor joining Steven Spielberg’s upcoming project! The man is a rising star, having shown his chops on hit series like “The Crown” and “Challengers”.
I’ve just scored another acting gig, folks! Can’t wait to team up with the one and only Steven Spielberg for his upcoming production. It’s going to be a wild ride!
According to Variety, actor Josh O’Connor, known for his roles in The Crown and Challengers, will be part of the cast that already includes Emily Blunt, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, and Eve Hewson. This upcoming film remains untitled as of now, but it is scheduled for release in 2026.
Not much information is available about the upcoming “original science fiction film,” but it’s been revealed that David Koepp, who has previously collaborated with Spielberg on projects like “Jurassic Park” and “Indiana Jones,” will be writing the script. The movie is rumored to incorporate elements of science fiction.
The upcoming movie, yet to be named, marks Steven Spielberg’s return to directing following his last project in 2022 titled “The Fabelmans“, a semi-autobiographical film about his childhood and early career in filmmaking. Kristie Macosko Krieger, who has collaborated with Spielberg since their work together on the 2001 film “A.I. Artificial Intelligence“, will again take on the role of producer for this new project.
The movie serves as another exciting upcoming production for O’Connor, having recently finished shooting for the third part of the “Knives Out” series titled “Wake Up Dead Man“. Expected to hit screens in 2025, writer-director Rian Johnson officially announced in August that filming had been completed, sharing a sneak peek on his social media platforms.
Johnson concluded, ‘And we’re done with Wake Up Dead Man,'” he posted, adding an image of a sign in a cemetery that said, “Kindly respect the graves.
As a grateful admirer, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the finest team globally and an exceptionally talented cast. Working with them on this project was an incredibly unique and unforgettable journey. I can hardly wait to assemble this masterpiece and share with you all the amazing work we’ve created together.
In the movie “Wake Up Dead Man”, O’Connor will be acting alongside stars such as Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, Thomas Haden Church, and Daniel Craig. Notably, Daniel Craig will reprise his role from a previous project as detective Benoit Blanc in this production.
Steven Spielberg’s untitled film is scheduled for release on May 15, 2026.
