Control 2 Confirmed as ‘Action RPG’ as Alan Wake 2 Clears 1.8 Million Copies Sold & Control Exceeds 4.5 Million Units
As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation when it comes to Remedy Entertainment’s upcoming releases. Having played both Control and Alan Wake, I can confidently say that these games have left a lasting impression on me.
Approximately one year after its debut, Alan Wake 2 by Remedy Entertainment is nearing the 2 million copies sold mark, having shifted 1.8 million units so far. In contrast, Control has surpassed the 4.5 million sales mark, with the studio announcing that the sequel will adopt an ‘action-RPG’ format.
Highlights from Remedy Entertainment’s Capital Markets Day 2024 presentation included sales data and a change in genre for the sequel to Control, while fans have been eagerly speculating about Alan Wake 2 following clues hidden in the latest DLC of The Lake House.
It’s uncertain at this point what specifically “Control 2” entails, but given Remedy’s previous work, it seems reasonable to expect they won’t veer too much from the third-person action style of their 2019 supernatural game, where you control Jesse Faden. There might be role-playing game (RPG) elements involving leveling up or something similar. Frankly, who can say for sure? We should learn more in the not-too-distant future.
